Intersting O-Line Article Featuring Long & Massie

This is a really interesting article. Two things stuck out to me in reading it:

 

- Long saying that he and Massie working together at LeCharles Bentley's Academy "should be illegal."

- Long saying that if you have the same five guys five years in a row, the O-line would be like the San Antonio Spurs. Is that what the Bears are trying to start with a Leno-Whitehair-Grasu-Long-Massie lineup this year that is young enough to grow together and be together for a long time?

Having some continuity on the line makes everyone better, so even getting a full season out of the same starting 5 would be huge.

I think they may be the future but not sure that is how it plays out this year. I think Rameriz may start in front of Grassu and Larson may start with Whitehair later in the season.

Funny you should say that. Saw a special piece on Bears.com today that showed some behind the scenes pics of predominantly starting players. Ramirez was one of those guys. I thought it odd that he's listed as a guard yet didn't appear to be in a guard stance. See for yourself.

He has played both positions and I think last year he was the starting center for Lions, but dont know that for certain.

Another thing that stood out to me was players complaining about the lack of practice time in pads (without contact). It is what their union negotiated for but maybe in the future they will back off these restrictions somewhat. The big guys need to get some contact in the offseason to improve their craft.

I doubt it. With the whole concussion thing, the league won't un-soften anything at this point now that they've crossed the river.
