jason
I'm looking at several sites, trying to find mocks that go beyond the first round, and I'm surprised at what many say. For instance... Draftsite.com 1. Mitch Trubinsky, QB, UNC 2. Taco Charlton, DE, Michigan 3. Kendell Beckwith, ILB, LSU 4. Jake Replogle, DT, Purdue 4. Mason Cole, OG, Michigan 5. Jonah Pirsig, OT, Minnesota 7. Keith Kelsey, ILB, Louisville Two ILBs? An OG? A question mark with the 1st rounder? And a dude named Taco? That one obviously sucks. Drafttek.com 1. Jalen Tabor, CB, Florida 2. Garrett Bolles, OT, Utah 3. Davis Webb, QB, Cal 4. Eddie Jackson, S, Bama 4. Jaylen Reeves-Maybin, ILB, UT This one also sucks, despite seeming to understand team needs. Tabor would be a huge reach. Bolles is underwhelming. Webb (cough-Jared Goff-cough) will have issues in the NFL. And, again, an ILB? Draftutopia.com 1. Mitch Trubinsky, QB, UNC 2. John Ross, WR, Washington 3. Adam Bisnowaty, LT, Pitt 4. Rasul Douglas, CB, WVU 4. Tony Conner, SS, Ole Miss At least this one hits on team needs, even if I don't really like many of the names. Already said I don't like Trubinsky, Ross and Bisnowaty (cool name) are reaches, and I'm not even sure about the other two. Honestly, would any of y'all be happy with those picks? I wouldn't. This is the only realistic one I've found: Draftwire.com 1. DeShone Kizer, QB, ND 2. Tre'Davious White, CB, LSU 3. Jordan Leggett, TE, Clemson 4. Josh Harvey-Clemons, S, Louisville 4. Dion Dawkins, OT, Temple 5. Ryan Switzer, WR, UNC 7. Jahad Thomas, RB, Temple I like this one more than most. I especially like the offensive weapons, and could see Kizer, Leggett, and Switzer all starting in 1-2 years. Dawkins would be a steal that late. I don't think he'd last. adam
I am so out of it on college players this year, can you make a "optimal" pick in comparison to these drafts based on players they had on the board after the Bears pick? If not Trubinsky or Tabor, then who? I don't understand why would look at ILB at all this draft.

Ignoring what everyone's perception of player ranking is, factoring in a very weak QB class, the fact that most top QB are mid/late first rounders, and going just on each site's mock, here are alternates: Draftsite.com 1. Marlon Humphrey, CB, Bama 2. Roderick Johnson, OT, FSU 3. Cordrea Tankersley, CB, Clemson 4. Jordan Leggett, TE, Clemson 4. Luke Falk, QB, Wash. St. 5. Jonah Pirsig, OT, Minnesota 7. Tanoh Kpassagnon, DE, Nova (not realistic at all) Drafttek.com 1. Marlon Humphrey, CB, Bama 2. Corey Davis, WR, W. Mich. 3. Jordan Leggett, TE, Clemson 4. Kevin King, CB, Washington 4. Dan Skipper, RT, Arkansas Draftutopia.com (hard because the rankings are all over the place) 1. Jonathan Allen, DE, Bama 2. Adoree' Jackson, CB, USC 3. Amba Etta-Tawo, WR, Syracuse 4. Jake Butt, TE, Michigan (not realistic) 4. Budda Baker, FS, Washington (not realistic) Draftwire.com (assuming the Bears draft third) 1. Jonathan Allen, DL, Alabama 2. Tre’Davious White, CB, LSU 3. Jordan Leggett, TE, Clemson 4. Chad Wheeler, OT, USC 4. Dion Dawkins, OT, Temple (not realistic) 5. Chad Kelly, QB, Mississippi 7. Josh Carraway, DE, TCU (not realistic)

If we got John Ross in Rd 2 I'd be ecstatic. He's a big time playmaker and home run threat every time he touches the ball and has very good hands for the difficult catches. Coming back from two serious knee injuries will certainly hurt his stock in the draft but I don't think it will take him to Rd 2. I can't wait to see the matchup against Humphrey in the playoff game. jason
After Kevin White, I don't see Pace going with guys with injury concerns early in the draft. Exactly. I think Ross is overrated and is going to get shutdown in the playoffs.
AZ54
Exactly. I think Ross is overrated and is going to get shutdown in the playoffs. You can shutdown any one player if you want to slide coverages his way. We have to see how they handle covering him. If they leave him one-on-one and shut him down that's more telling. Right knee - Torn meniscus, microfracture surgery Left knee - Torn ACL & meniscus On top of that, he's undersized, and does an awful lot of catching with his body. If the Bears want a shifty, slot WR, Ryan Switzer is better at that role, runs better routes, has better hands, and will be available in the 3rd-4th range. If the Bears want a homerun hitter, Corey Davis from Western Michigan is a much better option.

He's got generational speed, but...
