jason
Looks like he's going to be released. Rightfully so. He dropped off the map the last two years. http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/3636/mario-williams But maybe there is something there still? In 2016 he had a pesky ankle injury. In 2015 he said he didn't fit the system. This article talks about it some, but I believe mistakenly places blame on his fit as a 5T DE. The real problem appeared to be the switching he was talking about. I believe he has an excellent ability to be a 5T. He may be a little old, but I'd take him over Unrein in a heartbeat. People say he's lazy. I can't honestly say. But his physical talent says he could do wonders if motivated.

Gase got a good look at him last year and would probably give Vic and Foxy a fair assessment, or at least his opinion.
AZ54
Not interested. Too far past his prime and at absolute best he'll help for one season, and even that ability to "help" is in question. Stick to the plan with young players until we get a good core group in place. Not saying to sign him but if he thinks he can excel in a role then see what it takes. Calais Campbell will be 31, Williams just turned 32, I would take a look at either I they can improve the team. Ryan Pace has done a good job of signing guys who are in their prime. At the very least--he has signed guys he thinks will be really productive for multiple seasons. That hasn't always worked--but he's tried. Williams is clearly at the end of his career. If we were one player--you make a run at him. No stop gap-players. Pace is going to build with players younger on the rise, maybe in another year we are closer to the prize so we may grab an older guy to fill a need. DLine will be a huge need as Hicks is the only one I see them trying to keep. They can possibly draft Allen/Thomas #3 to fill the void or sign a FA like Kawann Short. If those options don't work out, then option B may be Campbell or Williams as a bridge.
