Saw Gilmore is going to the Patriots on ESPN

That really blows. He was my top target this year. Bears are said to have a big offer out there to Bouye, but early reports say he goes to the Jags.

I'm not really interested in Logan Ryan either.

Prince Amukamara and Mo Claiburne wouldn't be bad but they are both injury prone.

I really wanted Gilmore and a 2R pick but now I think you gotta get that 2nd rounder and hope one of the young guys drafted last year step up.

Bears are closing in on an agreement with TE Dion Sims, source says. Dolphins had wanted to retain him and Bears checked with other FA TEs.

Tight end Dion Sims plans to sign with the Bears, NFL Network reported Thursday.

The report said the Dolphins had hoped they could bring Sims back. The Dolphins drafted Sims in the fourth round in 2013, and he set a career high with four touchdown receptions last season.

Sims started 22 of 56 games with the Dolphins. He’s been used as a blocking tight end and as an occasional pass-catcher. His 26 receptions last season topped his previous career-best of 24 in 2014. Sims has eight career touchdown catches.

Color me unexcited...

Seems slow and little production. Is he just a blocking TE?

He's got a better catch percentage than Miller, and he has been sitting behind Clay and Cameron for a few years. Could just be a matter of opportunity. Of course, there is his concussion history.

This feels just like the Glennon signing. If he steps up to his potential, he could have great upside. If.

A.J. Bouye to Jaguars on five-year, $67.5 million deal $13.5 million annually

Top 2x CB's off the market.

Yeah, that one pisses me off. The Bears should have thrown the house at AJ Bouye once option 1 was off the table.

amen...

I have lost virtually all faith in Pace as being able to handle free agency. I suppose there's still a chance he can draft well. Which, ultimately is better. But, I'm soured big time. Just for PR...they needed to make a splash.

I really know very little of him. Thank for shedding some more light on him.

Seems harmless and at least better than Paulsen...

I'm not getting anywhere near the ledge till I see how Glennon and this years draft class performs. Does it suck they've missed out on Gilmore/Bouye? Absolutely, but the reality is there are 31 other teams in this league.

We've replaced Cutler with Glennon. At best it's a push but it's probably a downgrade.

We signed an old safety. They say he could be the next Adam Archuletta.

We signed a young hurt/bad WR. To help replace our franchise #1 WR.

And we are in line to sign a bad TE.

We still have 50 million to spend, our team isn't better, and we have nobody to spend it on.

Im sitting here scratching my head................ I think they sold George that this was a 4 to 5 year reboot. Not a quick turnaround and have no worries about losing their job next year. With the way this FA is going I bet you they draft a QB at number 3 if they feel there is a future franchise qb in this draft class.

We gave Glennon 15 mil per. The next best offer he received was 10 mil per.

Based on that, I am 100% convinced we've decided not to draft a QB at #3

It seems I'm in the minority here but Pace was right on the CB contracts.

http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/no-alsh...tters-to-bears/

"The Patriots reportedly gave Gilmore, whom the Bills drafted with the 10th overall pick in 2012, a five-year, $65 million contract, with a whopping $40 million guaranteed.

"the lowly Jaguars — one of the most aggressive teams in free agency every year — reportedly signed Bouye, an undrafted signing by the Texans in 2013, to a five-year, $67.5 million contract."

That's $67mil for a one year wonder! The same caution flags everyone here always has with NFL players.

$40mil guaranteed for a CB who, love 'em or hate 'em, rated very poorly in PFF's rankings last year. 61st IIRC.

Yes, I wanted one of them but never thought they'd see those contracts. Bouye is a good player but he's nowhere close to having an island, although he can now afford to buy one.

Jeffrey might be tougher to accept but I already said I wasn't going to lose any sleep watching him sit on someone else's sideline. He had to have more guaranteed money on the table, with the Bears or someone else, than his 1yr deal will pay him. I think it's safe to say with Cutler gone he was leaving no matter what for a team with a better QB situation.

That's the market...

If you want what's on the market, you pay market price. So, it's not necessarily good that you didn't want to pay. If you don't think the talent is there, that's different. But, that's the price...just as it is for Glennon.

And the Bears are not an attractive gig. So, ont top of market price, we must pay more of a premium because we suck.

Any reason we could use a situational rusher like Demarcus Ware? Probably not ideal considering the youth movement were in but he is a great leader. And would be cool for Floyd to be able to hang and play alongside his idol.

EDIT: Just saw that he announced his retirement. Never mind.

Retired!
