Stinger226
Defense is valuable in a big game. Nagy O works if you run the ball. We need a speed WR We need a quality TE We need a solid oline. To keep the defense good we need another pass rusher. Healthy Hicks matters. I think filling the CB and SS spot will be relatively cheap. Pass rusher will not be. We have a lo to do.
ASHKUM BEAR
I know it's not popular, but since most of the oline is locked down with a big portion of cap, they could draft a speed WR early if there is one available and use the other 2nd pick on a TE/RG/OLB. 2a Jalen Reager WR TCU 2b Thadeous Moss TE LSU 4 Ben Bredeson G Mich 5 Akeem Davis Gather OLB App St 6a DeeJay Dallas RB Miami 6b. adam
Key takeaways, don't neuter the offense because you are scared of mistakes. Mahomes threw 2 INTs that resulted in opponent scores (10 pts), yet they still allowed him to take shots down the field. He had three relatively deep passes, and only one was a dime. The other two were "throw them up to an area" throws that the receiver had to adjust to make the catch. He did nothing that Mitch can't do. It's crazy really. Mitch just needs to recognize what to do better on the RPO and option plays and connect on a few deep passes per game. The key to both defenses was getting there with 4 rushers. Also, I saw a lot of single-high safety looks most of the game. That is where Eddie thrives. Jimmy G choked, Shanahan choked (again), and Sherman got burnt like Michael in the Pepsi commercial. The team had zero faith in Jimmy G, and you could feel it. He was inaccurate (missed an easy deep ball to Sanders) and his picks were ugly. It's crazy to think that the Chiefs won their last 3 playoff games after trailing by 10 or more points. Every team had them on the ropes and then went into prevent mode (which is where KC destroys babies). You would think that after HOU, that TEN would've made the adjustment, then after TEN that SF would've just kept doing what they were doing for 3 quarters to put the game away, but instead they got passive. They let over a minute run down before half with 3 timeouts to ultimately run out of time to score after a 1st down because they had no confidence in Jimmy G. With the running game not working as well as it did in the previous games, they had no choice but to let Jimmy G throw the ball and they lost because of it. The SF vaunted defense went into prevent mode, and when their best corner had to play man to man, he got beat badly. Game over. I really don't think we are far off. We need to move on from Floyd, use any cap space he was using and go get a true compliment to Mack on the other side. We need a strong pass rush. Kittle and Kelce really didn't do too much in the biggest game of the year, so either the other teams took them away or TE is not as valuable as I thought. One interesting note, Damien Williams ended up with 100 yards rushing. So it seems KC flipped the script a little bit on SF and it worked. Mahomes ended up with a 78.1 QB Rating as the MVP, that's impressive. Hopefully this will be the last mention of Pace passing up Mahomes for Trubisky. He won the league MVP last year, and the SB and SB MVP this year. There is nothing more he can do to validate that Pace made the wrong choice. I don't know if there has been another draft pick scrutinized more since Ryan Leaf (who the Chargers traded up for one pick and gave up a future 1st round pick a 2nd round pick and Eric Metcalf). If Trubisky played exactly like Mahomes did in that game Bears fans would still want to cut him. That's the Mahomes I saw in college when he was under pressure and I was surprised to see him that rattled by the SF pass rush. Imagine him behind the Bears Oline. Many of his passes were off target (deep passes as you mentioned) imagine our fan base who complained about Trubisky pass that was 6" too short of being in stride. JimmyG was even worse under pressure constantly throwing off his back foot. With a clean pocket he looks good, even on those little screen passes they threw a lot of. He was inaccurate often when he had a clean pocket or his team would have won the game. He had several opportunities for big plays if he led his receiver correctly. We need to fix Trubisky and get his head on straight and get a running game. I like what Nagy did bringing in Flip and Lazor to help here and moving Rags behind the scenes as passing game coordinator. He could have cut Rags for all I cared but it has been clear Rags is not getting through to Trubisky. Gotta throw a different pitch and see if it works. After posting a possible off-season earlier where I cut Floyd I'm really starting to think signing a big FA pass rusher and cutting Floyd (if he won't sign a very reasonable extension) is definitely the way to go here. You just have to have pass rushers at all times and that was clear by the way SF rattled Mahomes. We're not going to win because of Mitch but we can win with him if we have the right defense (which is very close to elite) and a running game. I'm going to start building my offseason wish list. Last...I'm really glad Andy Reid finally has his Superbowl win. Loved watching his emotions as he closed out a career long goal.

On another note, I saw some post game breakdowns the last few days saying that on one of Mahomes INT's that he was intentionally throwing behind Hill "to protect" him. It's amazing how they come up with instant excuses for his mistakes. Definitely on Floyd, we can't afford to have his weak pass rush on the opposite side of Mack. We need them to at least honor the other side, not completely abandon it. Out of all the outcomes, I am fine with Reid getting one. Now doesn't get any more. If one is great or one sucks you can't compare. It is what it is. Change places and it might be the same, we don't know. Stinger226
Woulda, coulda, shoulda , we need to live in the reality of Mitch. Pace will go another year trying to make it work. I hope it works but if not , what they do behind him is what counts. With limited draft capital and up against the cap , hope they figure it out. With Free agency first up ( my choices), try to get Mariota on a 2 year prove it deal ( 15 mil)? I would hope that would work. 2nd and more likely they sign Case Keenum. He's capable of much more than Chase ever did. In the draft they will draft one . The problem is it has to be with 2a or 2b to have a shot that the real thing , otherwise with a 6th round draft Steve Montez from Colorado. I think I spelled that wrong. What say you and be realistic.

I don't really have time to go back and dig up quotes. Mitch does not play as well as Mahomes that's a fact. But in that last game when under pressure Mahomes looked an awful lot like Mitch has. BearFan PHX
The idea that if you have money tied up in a bad player that you have to keep playing them is false. Pace cut Parkey, even though everyone predicted he wouldnt for the same reason. The money is gone, no need to ALSO play a bad player. Also, Leno can be cut and designated as a June 1st cut to spread the pain a bit over two years. We can afford it, and we should get rid of him. Yeah that is the worst thing a team can do, pay a terrible player AND keep him on the team. At least cut your losses and let someone else step up. At worst you are no better off than you were before. Even the ‘lesser’ of the two, Watson, has made the playoffs the last two seasons. Whether it be Trubisky, Nagys play-calling, the offensive line or the combination of all three; time and excuses will be running out soon. They need to get their collective crap together for next year for any of it to count.

Yes and Carson Wentz almost had a league MVP award before he faded back to the point some fans were calling for Foles again. QB is tough position in the NFL and when a team is firing on all cylinders it's the QB who often gets the credit. I like to see how players respond under less than ideal conditions. Mitch has not responded well but it could change. The likelihood of that is up for debate even if many consider it case closed. Watson has had a lot of ups and downs and his playoff performance was far from inspiring. I saw nothing in that one game I watched that would make me want him over Mitch, albeit was just one game. Mahomes is the one of the 3 who is really playing lights out on a first rate offense and even he struggled a lot against a good pass rush even with elite talent at TE and WR.
