Looking at a few available in the FA market: Eric Reid (29 years old) 7 year career stats: 98 games started (missed 12 games the last 3 of four years). 519 total tackles, 11 total INTs, 45 Passes Defensed (PD) and 3 Fumbles -played mostly FS but has done some SS as of late Karl Joseph (NEVER MIND, JUST SIGNED WITH CLEVELAND) Tony Jefferson (28 years old) 7 year career stats: 66 games started (only played 5 last year). 451 total tackles, 4 INTs, 22 PDs, 8 fumbles. Played a little bit of FS, SS and CB. Vonn Bell (26 years old) 4 year career stats: 45 games started (missed 8 in 2018 and 3 last year). 348 total tackles, 1 INT, 14 PDs, 7 fumbles. While in New Orleans he's played CB, SS, FS, MLB and LB. (may explain the high number of tackles). For a pure SS candidate it would appear Bell is the best bet but then again, has the most wear and tear in a short career...and only 1 INT. Reid although the oldest has the highest number of tackles but the highest number of PDs and INTs. Again age being what it is.... Still thinking draft may be a better option(?) Stinger226
I think there is enough Ss out there that would be able to find one that we could get HaHa deal with. Also Detroit just released Devon Kennard a OLB that had 7 sacks last year and was a team captain. There is going to be many players released during this process, so we're going to get some players just not top tier.

Is there something that isn't public knowledge yet? He seems like a good guy and they once though enough of him to give him a mid-level contract extension. https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/nfl/lions/2020/03/17/detroit-lions-reportedly-parting-ways-devon-kennard/5068700002/
Stinger226
If something is up it will come out. Being a team captain usually means well respected and well liked in the locker room. Maybe had a problem with a coach?

Far as i now I thought all contact between teams and players was not allowed? My little understanding of all the rules is that FA started in earnest today. But some clause recently added allows teams to talk to players as early as the 16th. (I think).
BearFan PHX
I think BIll meant face to face meetings becasue of the virus - you are correct the legal tampering period makes it all OK in terms of that. But a meeting could have been over skype etc...

Stinger226
I seen this today, we need more backups at OLB too. Doubt he is a cheap addition. He made 6 mil last year.
Bill
Yea my assumption was in person. All these nerds in the NFL know more than me about talking to someone with out being in the same room. DA
