You should be able to put him in the IR spot, and yes, unfortunately, you have to keep him on your roster. For eligible keepers, you have to draft them and they have to be on your final roster. Wentz played last night, so he is now on waivers for this week's games which and is available to be picked up on Oct 28th thru the waiver wire.
