Out of curiosity, what would you look for in a great QB coming out of college these days?

Hell, truth be told the "Tuna" hasn't been doing much football anything in a quite awhile.  Parcells' metrics are more just a tool of entertainment but does provide some good basic measurables:

  • Be a three year starter
  • Be a senior and graduate college
  • Start 30 games (with a successful record of sacks, interceptions, pass completions etc)

You could apply these to just about any positional player and find yourself a good solid prospect.

I have no idea. I was just saying that there must be newer thoughts.  I'm listening to GM shuffle with Lombardi.  Yea, I know he's the most dissed commenter but he makes some great points.   One I found funny but true.  Some of what he wanted his scouts to look for.  Can he play golf , does he have eye-hand coordination, the hardest worker in the locker room, how does he watch film (alone  or with a coach right after the game etc), how does he take criticism, how smart is he, not always the wonder lick, and a lot more.  He also agrees with Simms who looks more at mechanics than just how the ball is flying down the the field.  He uses a point saying how a golf coach looks at a pro golfer drive 350 yards at the practice tee and most fans would say GEES.  The coach says this is not sustainable, need to change this and that.  Im just a ignorant fan who has no idea how to judge talent or what to even look for.  Yea, I spend way to much time reading NFL stuff, just ask my wife, now that I'm retired.  I have opinions of course and think I know more that I do.  I am after all the two time defending FF champion of the sudsoakers FF league.  Which has been in around for 30 years. All of us worked or still do for the same PO.  Most retired.  I've only been there for five or six on and off but have know them all for over 30 years.   And ARob and Montgomery where two of my best players this ;year.  Always pick the only options on offense even when on bad teams to fill out your roster.

The modern assessment for QB's is what can they do that's not the norm and can they act instinctively.  I was wrong about Trubisky being that guy when he was drafted.

I’m not sure I would want Fields if he slipped either. I just can’t get over the Luckeye QB streak. They just suck once they get to the NFL.

Add in the epilelpsy thing, and consider me suitably concerned.
