I learn more about the Bears here than most places. People here say all kinds of stuff here, some is smart, some is not. Some is right, some is downright false. But it frames questions for me to think about and prove or disprove in my own mind too.

And when I advance a theory of my own, and people argue against it, I listen. If I think they made sense, it may change my mind, or force me to recalculate exactly what I'm saying. it doesn't make me mad if someone simply disagrees with me.

This!

Honestly, it's like politics.  Listening to someone you don't politically align with is sometimes hurtful to the ears.  But, if you listen without the intent of responding.  IE just listen.  You may understand better that there is more than one right answer.

What we are discussing lately is, what's the best right answer?

When people disagree on subjects it doesn't mean they think your argument is trash, it's just seeing different criteria for their side of a conversation. You could just like Justin, not necessarily try to put up a legitimate argument  I'm never tried to say Justin is a great passer, that isn't even an argument, its about other things he brings to the table and whether the can get better with other coaches or better weapons. That's opinions, it's easy to say odds are against it, that's true but if history shows it possible , it's OK to think that .. It's not cool to say that your opinion is trash, just because it's not the same as yours but you can say it, no one here is stopping that.

I am speechless. This is literally the dumbest thing I've ever read. I can't take anything you say seriously at all if you want to roll with a QB who "isn't a great passer." wtf.

Since 2001, when the NFL started protecting QBs there have only been two QBs, that were NOT considered great passers, to win a Superbowl.  That's around 8 percent.  Out of that 8 percent, zero have been running quarterbacks as their primary threat.  Betting that Justin will be the first, will get you an invite to my casino.

The NFL is a passing QBs' league. Also, water is wet and dinosaurs were real. :)

Now, there's a chance they were planted to throw us for a loop.  I have no data, only possibilities.  ?

Let's leave out the fact he improved this year, and will get better. For you speechless wouldn't be so bad. Reading is a skill, you misinterpret( not a great passer) like it means he can't pass but you do that all the time so nothing new there.

nah, youre goofy.

I didnt say you said he cant pass the ball ever. I said he isnt a great passer and never will be. YOu said youre not arguing hes a great passer. So you think a team can win with a not so great passer. Thats crazytown. This isnt about me misreading you, youre just trying to model what I say to you when you do that.

It's getting silly now.

Sometimes you gotta know when youve been beaten and move on to the next thing dude. And going for the nasty when youre so wrong is just cringe.

( the dumbest thing i ever heard) What's silly is you can't live in peace, you constantly poke the bear and then turn around and pretend you're the innocent one. Grow up

LOl youre such a _______ i wont even bother using any word for that. Your takes are ridiculous, and youre so fighty and nasty.

I honestly think you just dont understand half of why what you say is so weird.

But I'm not here to fight with you. Since I told you to cut out the truly nasty stuff, and then kicked your rhetorical butt enough that it did stop, I don't really care anymore what you have to say about me.

You've been exposed, and now the weight of what you say about me is greatly lessened. Who cares.

But here's a hint, i said what you SAID was dumb. If you want to understand before you go through this with someone else, understand the difference between attacking an argument, and attacking a person.

But yeah, be as nasty as you need to - it just looks bad.

I'm getting so damn sick and tired of this petty squabble between the two of you that I swear to God I am about to resign as admin and leave the forum. I do not come here to listen (read) fellow Bears' fans, who I thought were two mature adults, argue like two six-year-olds. Fellow admins have repeatedly requested that the two of you "bury the hatchet." Yet you continue.

STOP!!!!

(And I don't want to hear, "But he started it....")

JUST END IT! NOW!!!!

I just read an article on bearswire.usatoday.com on the 2024 strength of schedule. There are only two teams (Falcons & Saints) whose schedules are considered easier than the Bears'. Of course, as we all know, this SOS can always be misleading, as there are always surprises once the season begins (for example, Houston's resurgence in 2023).

Win-loss from 2023 teams: 135-154

Games vs. teams with .500+ win percentage in 2023: 10

Games vs. 2023 playoff teams: 7

It will be a top 5 (easiest) no matter what.

awesome - that aligns well with a rookie QB season, and then next year he can be challenged harder as the schedule gets tougher - and hopefully we get a QB forged in fire ready to lead us to multiple superbowls!!

Luke Getsy to the Raiders, I assume they are out of the running for Fields, but maybe still for the #1 pick trade.

So either the Raiders think Fields was the problem or they are batshit crazy.

Of course everything you post is all about being right. This is just another opinion of a( not  important fan), just like us. People have different opinions on Justin , they are allowed to do that, they dont need to prove why they think he will be back. I post different opinions and yet you think 90% of everyone  thinks like you. You post information as to why we should move on from Justin, the majority of stats suggest that's the best choice but if Poles thinks he can be better , it doesnt matter  if its a bad choice, he will still do what he thinks is best.

With all you complained about with Flus , Poles  brought him back because HE thought it was his best choice. IF he brings Justin back and gets a draft capital bonanza, it doesnt have to be his best choice, only what he wants to do. Tell everyone how stupid he is, it means nothing.

No matter what choices he makes we wont know if he is right until November of this year. Have fun posting.

Here is the thing with the Fields vs Williams vs Other QB debate. I think no matter what direction the Bears go, they are a playoff team. If the Bears get a historic haul to trade out of the #1 pick, they will take it. If they don't get that type of offer, they probably go with a QB at #1, or even trade down and draft one later.

If the Bears go into 2024 with Fields, they win at least 9 games, and probably as high as 11. I think if they go with Williams, for his rookie year, the floor may be 8, but the ceiling is around 12. If they go with someone like Maye, I think the floor is a little lower, 7-8 wins, and the ceiling is probably around 9-10 for his rookie year.

Guys, you both have been right and wrong before, I have too, it's ok. I can post about someone having a 300 yard game to support something I am posting about, but then Grizz comes in and reminds me that 120 of those yards were in garbage time. Everything has context and nuance, and we only ever know 50% or so of what is really going on unless someone on here is inside Halas Hall.

I try to post interesting info I find and discuss. I am wrong a lot, called out a bunch. It's all for fun. I laugh to myself at some comments, I disagree with others. Either I engage when it is counter to what I think and I try to provide evidence or I don't engage at all.

There is a reason why I post a lot of stats, and try to look at them from different points of view. I lean on stats more than reporting and media, because at the end of the day, they are the result of the player. Now the end result is not always his fault (INT due to WR), but for the most part the stats are as accurate of a depiction as we are going to get for a player than anything else. They are not perfect but they are the strongest indicator of success or failure that we have in sports.
