So Brad Biggs is reporting that Eberflus may have signed a FIVE year deal, thru the 2026 season. That would mean that the Bears would have to pay him TWO years of salary to get rid of him.

Please say it aint so. If they keep him after this year, and waste another year of Caleb's window, we ought to all get torches and burn Halas Hall to the ground.

honestly it would no surprise me.. the article makes sense in why he would have gotten that..and it would be like the Bears to do that and have it hose the team.  Anything the Bears can do to screw something up, they will find a way.

I dunno about midseason firing, so Ill leave that alone. But if they come back with Flus again next year, it will be the worst move in the history of football.

And I SO want to find my posts from January where I said everything that's coming true now. I even said Poles would be in some trouble. Grrr.

They talked today about signed thru 2025, but Im not sure. Poles aint going to worry about 1 yr left,r it comes down to having a winning record and developiong CW. If he doesnt win, he will be gone. Not the right question at this time with a potenial 5-4 record. Its the division strerch that will sink him.

*IF* Eberflus is signed through 2026, then it is *POSSIBLE* that Bears ownership wont let him fire Flus with 2 years left on his deal. That would really be awful if it happened.

Not predicting anything, just reacting to Briggs' news that the deal might be a 5 year deal. Maybe thats part of why they wouldnt fire him after last year?

All speculation of course.

I have just read , not verified , that he originally signed a 5 yr deal when everyone was thinking 4 yr deal. Next yr is playoff time on Poles schedule and if Flus isnt winning, they aint worring about a couple million when they probably have the right QB. Like you said speculation on almost everything, 3 more games will define this yr.

I think the answer is already known. Whether they will pay 2 more years on his deal, and his staff (could be like 20 million total) I dunno.

If Flus is still here next year, we are in big big trouble.

Just seen a Adam Rank post that said NFL insiders told him, he was keeping Flus no matter what happens this yr. I find when people say they support a coach it is a kiss of death. I think, winning record, he stays, losing record he leaves.

it would be crazy to already know youre keeping him I agree.

One thing we disagree about is you (with respect!) seem to always think the next few games will make the decision, that its always waiting until the end, and I think sometimes you get to a decision point sooner even if you have to let the season play out. Of course I dont KNOW anything, but I think if an executive cant decide until the very end, they dont have much vision?

I cant see how Poles could already be 100% all in on keeping Flus, and if he is, Id fire him just for that, and promote Ian Cunningham.

He may wait until the end of the year but the next 3 games will decide what he does. I think we agree. Just dont think he's firing him, if he does, till the end of the yr. Now if he has 5 game losing streak ( 2 already), he may have too.

I think Herbert fumbled the ball his first carry with the Bengals.

But I dont think everyone is waiting for more to know which way things are headed. I think if youre Poles youve already seen enough - but now we read that Poles is definitely keeping him next year - so i dunno. If thats true its insane. To already know youre keeping him? Yikes.

Lots of people saying things that are guessing. I THINK, no matter what happens, it will be after the season. I also dont think we are going to go on a  11 game losing streak. We are a better team than last yr. After 9 games, we were 2-7, after tomorrow we will be 5-4. We have a rookie QB that has had a few good games and lots of bad games. We wouldnt be blaming playing play calling if players were exectuing. This all looks bad, but I believe the Hail Mary play created a huge over reaction to everything. We are still on track to hit 9 wins which most people predicted. We still have good players on this roster. Barring lots of injuries, we can still win 9, with CW playing better maybe 10.
