Bears4Ever_34
If Caleb comes out of this game without a turnover, he should be given a medal. Most likely will be the toughest test for him this season, given what Flores likes to do. I expect a very similar gameplan to today with a lot of screens and quick passes to avoid catastrophic sacks.
BearFan PHX
Caleb's time to throw today was pretty quick on a lot of his throws. Faster than anything weve really seen before. To do that in one week tells you how screwed up the gameplan was with Waldron. Matching short protections like play action with longer routes. Today looked more like football. DABEARSDABOMB
This loss stings - but saw a lot of positives today from Caleb and Rome and the offense as a whole.

Brown much better than Waldron, one step at a time. He got everybody involved, cut down on the information overload and Caleb responded. We are one more draft class away from the playoffs and if Caleb is great , we're going to have some championships in the near future. Just because the O wasnt horrible doesnt mean you extend this when Kingsbury, Johnson, Kubiak or whoever is waiting in the wings. You dont just need to get better than awful - you need to chase greatness and that means upgrading people. In other words, dont compare Flus/Brown to Flus/Waldron, compare it to the Lions or the Redskins offense. Compare it to the top 5 teams in the league. Going from 29th to 15th isnt the goal. Going to #1 and bullying the f*ck out of the league is the goal. We need coaches who are winners.

Repeating every week that we need to change coaches means nothing with 7 games left. He will be gone, so I look for Caleb to be better and he was. That does not mean I am now supporting Flus. I am just a fan and I wont be picking the next coach. I would like Gruden but that is an opinion. I need to check and see who Grudens agent is, since lots of people think that is why Poles choose Flus.

Im just saying I dont trust Poles to make the next choice. If Poles is retained, I hope Warren is a huge part of the decision. ANd having said that, I think that means you gotta fire Poles, and with Cunningham in the wings, it makes it that much easier to do. I doubt we hire another Trace Armstrong guy. adam
Looking at unit EPA comparisons: CHI 24th OFF, 27th Pass, 12th Rush, TTT 2.86, QBP 38.1 MIN 1st DEF, 7th Pass, 1st Rush, TTT 2.78, QBP 37.2 On offense, Caleb won't really feel too much difference as his TTT and QBP are almost the same as what MIN has done. The biggest factor looks to be the rush defense. MIN 14th OFF, 13th Pass, 21st Rush, TTT 3.06, QBP 36.3 CHI 8th DEF, 3rd Pass, 20th Rush, TTT 2.93, QBP 34.4 On defense, MIN is actually a middle of the road offense. Outside of JJ, it is even less. The Bears will be forcing Darnold to throw faster than he is used to which may cause his pressure rate to go up.

I have said I think if he wins more games than he loses, Poles may bring him back. I have been talking about Gruden. I heard Cleveland may let their coach go and several people have said he is a good coach. I dont know enough about to form an opinion. Yeah I wasnt saying that about you, I was debating against the idea of him coming back, in this case because you thought Poles might, so I was saying why Poles would be wrong to. But I want to pick our next head coach from the full pool of talent, the best of which is currently coaching on other teams, and not pick from the best of whats out there right now. So Id wait for the offseason for that.
adam
About what we would expect for a first half. Bears losing 14-10. Flus with terrible time management at the end of the half. He refuses to blitz which gives Darnold all day long to throw, which has led to 3 huge plays for Minnesota. If not for a strip forced fumble by Owens, the Vikings would be up 21-10. Outside of 1 bad throw, Williams has looked solid. 2 drops so far, otherwise, Williams' stats would be better. Even against one of the best defenses in the NFL, Williams has some impressive halftime stats. Compare his to some of the other rookie QBs at half: Williams 16-22, 72.7%, 176 yds, 8.0 Y/A Daniels 9-16, 56.3%, 57 yds, 3.6 Y/A, 1 INT Maye 6-11, 54.5%, 49 yds, 4.5 Y/A
adam
So how bad is Matt Eberflus? He challenged another play call that was not overturned, now over a year since he got one correct. Then when faced with a 4th and 4, he runs the FG unit out to run them off, that only gave Caleb 15 seconds to get everyone set, pass is incomplete. Turnover on downs. It is like he finds a new way to lose every week, every half, every quarter, every drive.
adam
Flus can take Hightower with him. Back to back blocked FGs in the last two weeks, now a muffed punt by Carter. Normally subpar coverage units. What does the Bears ST do well like they have a good coach?
50england50
That's the game over. Ridiculous decision by Carter. We aren't good enough to overcome dumb plays whether it not defending a hail Mary, having field goals blocked, dropping easy passes, muffed punts and consistently having pre-snap penalties. All of this is on the coaches. Shame because I like Flus but is he too soft and not making players accountable for their performances.
AZ54
There is nothing like watching a bunch of defeated men trying to coach or play football.
50england50
Great play by defense. Come on Caleb lets drive down the field and get within 7. Don't know why the Vikings decided to not punt being that they had a good lead. As far as I'm concerned that's a dumb play.

adam
I am glad Caleb finally got a passing TD, but man, I am so sick of targeting Allen, which missed on the 2pt attempt.
50england50
Caleb just showed something on the drive which I haven't seen from a Bears QB in a long time. I'm confident we made the right choice ccd e of moving on from Fields and taking Caleb. Big decisions will be made in the off season but the future looks brighter.
Mongo3451
I don't understand the 2 point conversation attempt. Does the math support more than 50% success rate?

If it wasn't the Bears it is probably a good idea. If you get it, you can win with a TD+XP or tie with 2x FGs. If you don't get it, you can still tie with a TD+2PT.
adam
Can you believe holding Justin Jefferson to 1 reception for 7 yards, 0 TDs on 4 targets and losing?
