With Vrabel gone, it's Johnson, Joe Brady - Monkin. I'm leary of Carroll.

Im just not a fan of the rookie candidates with exception of Johnson (and even him I have reservations). It’s not that they aren’t qualified - those 3 guys are. Monkin id pass on, I’m hesitant of someone his age finally getting a shot (Arians is like the only time I can ever think of it working).

The reason I don’t like the inexperienced coaches is I think the Bears don’t have the right culture and transition approach in place, so they need a good proven coach who can get that stuff right. It’s the stuff that rookie coaches will struggle with, with very few exceptions and I just think the Bears are so freaking broke.

Fox was trying to do it but he was just too far out of the game. McCarthy, Tomlin, Pete - they all have the juice still and while they have flaws they know how to establish good, winning programs and build buy in and an actual system - you get that right for a number of years and than I think it becomes easier the next time you replace your coach…further you get away from it the harder it is to create.

Shoot…even look across the board…with exception of Lions, rarely do you see the looser teams turn it around and it’s cause I think they are just so messed up by time some of that stuff gets fixed or attempted to those guys are gone and it’s just a whole new attempt at same stuff.

When you get a legit experienced guy (not just some crappy retread…this is a rare year where they can get a good experienced guy)…they just enter the lockeroom with juice that someone else has to earn and build and that is its own unique skill that isn’t easy and doesn’t necessarily translate to being great at X’s and O’s or even being a good ceo / manager.

Just got done scanning the usual Youtube suspects and at this point it's safe to say the internet is abuzz about Ben Johnson really impressing the Bears with his plan for the roster as well as for developing Caleb over the years (yes plural).  Aaron Glenn apparently impressed as well.  It's all just local rumors as near as I can tell but if the network guys pick this up as well on Monday then there's likely some truth behind it.

I think it's hard to imagine any real news being leaked at this point, so everything that comes out, even from Halas Hall is probably meant for some spin.

I'm not saying it isn't true, spin can be true too, but someone put it out for a reason, even if the network guys pick it up too?

Im not saying youre wrong at all, just saying that if something is released, there is a reason for it.

I don't see how Tomlin would want to come here when he has Justin there to work with LOL

(yes I know that makes no sense for like 5 different reasons, but I couldnt help it LOL)

Like you said Halas Hall never leaks information under Poles. Journalists keep trying to tell you they know what happens in the war room, I don't believe it for a minute. The info probably came from Johnson's agent. It's a good bargaining tool for any job to say everything went well. 4 teams left for a coach. Yes we have dysfunction with the owners but so does Jets, raiders. NO is in cap hell that will take a few years to change. That leaves us and Jax. I'm sure Johnson would make Lawrence better, but the rest of the offense isn't impressive

They have Thomas Jr, we have Odunze and DJ. They have Tank Bigsby, and Travis E- we have Swift and Johnson plus I believe they bring in a rookie RB. They have Engram and we have Kmet who can both block and catch, Evans doesn't block.  Both lines haven't been good but we have the assets to change that. We have 3 too 41 picks , they have pick 5 and 36. The final PFF ranking has us ranked 17th and Jax 21st with the OL. They claim 31 sacks were attributed to Caleb holding the ball to long and not making decisions quick enough. I agree with that. We have 83 mil in cap, Jax is at 35 mil.

It will come down to who Johnson thinks is the better QB. Lawrence has a 206 mil contract already in place so if he's not the guy, Jax is a bad investment. Also Poles seems like a more likable guy than Trent Balkke. It may matter.

I don't believe that at all.  If he believes what we all believe, that George meddles, I would hesitate.  There are monetary, personnel and power dynamics as well.  He has Cinderellas slipper right now...
