Stinger226
After watching Texas and Ohio State, Kelvin Banks is not worthy of a top 20 pick. JT and Jack Sawyer has taken him to school The whole DL of Ohio State moved up the draft ladder. Jake Wilson/ OC has held his own against a awesome DL. Not that it is an excuse, but Banks suffered a left ankle injury that caused him to miss a game and was questionable to even play. The RT was also playing hurt. Scouts have to look at the whole package and not one game. If the refs called a hold in the end zone that last minute of the game, it could be a different view. Interesting for me because he was the only OT I thought was worth a top 10 pick.

I have a feeling there will be 2 maybe 3 names after the combine worthy of our pick. The good thing without a top 5 prospect is the potential to move down. The Bears need all the tanks they can get to solidify the trenches. I would not be happy if they take a RB, WR, or DB before round 3. I'll live with a DT or DE, but if Caleb gets anywhere close to breaking the sack record again, I will have to find a new hobby.
Stinger226
Since it's only the second time I have seen him,and don't know his history, not fair to judge on one game. Last year I watched Jon Alt play 3 games and he always looked like the first OT off the board. I watched one OT draft breakdown and said because of Campbell's football intelligence, he could be a all pro center from his first day in the NFL. He is a big guy with power and mobility and a born leader. If we drafted him at 10 and made him a center would you be okay with that? Not really the value you want at 10 but if he were truly All Pro from year one that'd be ok with me. He could also slide out to OG if needed for injury depending on who your top 6 Olinemen are. I still prefer the slight trade down and grabbing him a few picks later but we're going to be pretty much stuck at 10.

To be honest, I don't think either will be there at 10 which may drop Graham or Carter down. Hopefully dropping back and getting an extra top 50 pick works out. 4 top 50 plus 72 gives us 5 future starters. 3 on OL and 2 on DL. Stinger226
I've been looking at RBs lately. Did we want the speed guy or power back in short yardage situations? I think Swift is our flash guy and Johnson a dependable backup, but more power on short yardage would help us in the red zone. This is a deep class and can get a good player with our mid round pick. Rahiem Sanders is 6'1"230 with 4.4 speed. Projected 5th round by Draft Buzz, he could fit that role. Lots of choices in mid rounds. Ian Cunningham comp pick would be a perfect spot. Both of our running backs could use an upgrade, and I dont know any names yet, but I dont doubt your research. Consider also that if you upgrade the OL, every running back looks better! He runs with power, heart, and determination. There’s also that chip on his shoulder. He could be a real workhorse that keeps drives alive by consistently churning out 4+ypc w/ an occasional long play.

Adam Mason is doing a lot of draft work right now. I'm using other people's opinions since they're putting in the time to look at tape that I'm not going to. Since I don't think Swift and Johnson are going anywhere this year, do we want a short yardage power guy, or a speed scat type of back? Someone that could do return work. Stinger226
As much as we could use a 3T to help with the pass rush, I like Dione Walker and Alfred Collins as huge NT types to fill in with Billings.

I think the Bears surprise us and take a RB fairly early and this is a good class to do so. Today, as I look at possible players, I would prefer a trade down unless DT Graham is there or a top DE. Intrigued with Will Campbell OL, but feel he needs to slide inside and at 10, meh. The top tier is not deep, imo. But tier two goes well into round 2 and if they can move down to 15-20, gain a 2nd and build baby build. Rd1-15* trade: Austin Booker G, Josh Simmons LT, or Air Ersery LT Rd2-39: Prince Umanmeilen DE, or either Ohio St edges. Rd2-41: Wyatt Milim OT, Donovan Jackson G, Omarian Hampton RB Rd2-46* trade - Deone Walker DT, Kaleb Johnson RB Rd3-72 - Ollie Gordan RB, Cam Skattebo RB, Kevin Winston S I believe they will be more active in FA getting a couple major trench pieces while reinforcing through the draft. Blocking TE, Bell cow RB, and FB will be some key positions for Ben's scheme.
