It's hard to say with the OC role because it will be Ben Johnson's offense and Ben will be calling the plays. He's looking for someone to run it for him during the week which i would think is someone coming from Detroit, or at least someone he's worked with before that he can trust. I doubt that would preclude Ben from hiring the rest of his offensive staff. Defense is the other way around where I think someone has already agreed in principle to take the job and he's hiring the coaches that guy wants. For sure these coordinator decisions can't be too far off.
CrackerDog
I sure hope we’re not hiring defensive assistant coaches without a coordinator effectively done.
BearFan PHX
Very interesting article (he cites the sources and shows the tweets) about Al Harris already challenging Tyrique Stevenson by having him join Pete Houlihan's sports performance unit. You gotta love seeing this. I feel the urgency already. And you gotta figure a DC is in waiting, nodding approval from the shadows. Hard to say you want to teach a player a certain approach if you dont have the DC yet? https://www.sportsmockery.com/chicago-bears/new-bears-coach-al-harris-is-already-getting-on-tyrique-stevensons-a/

He has talent now use what happened last year to push you forward!

Don’t trade him coach him. for sure. especially with a new leadership group coming in - you dont need to do something drastic and self harming like cutting him loose to get the players' attention. Youll have it with Al Harris and (hopefully) Dennis Allen. Turn him into an asset and he will love this staff forever and keep himself in check for them. DABEARSDABOMB
I like the coaching staff they have brought together. Want Boucher big time at oline. He was a stud for years where Saints turned mid round picks into above average players. I think he goes all the way back to former Bear Bushrod. Dude was a really good oline coach for a long time. Curious why he went to college? Did he just want to stay in New Orleans area at Tulane? Wasn’t sure why he left given how good he did under Payton. DABEARSDABOMB
The OC is way younger - I was excited for Shaw (was kind of surprised he would interview for the role) but Doyle has worked 5 years with Payton. Super young (I think he might be son of former Iowa strength and conditioning coach Doyle). Youngest OC in the league - this will put a ton of pressure on Johnson though as I was hoping he’d get a guy like Shaw who had experience running and organizing things like Ben wanted. Let’s hope that 8” of snow got him ready for Chicago.
adam
Randle El has been St. Brown's WR Coach his entire career so far. Al Harris is a high end DBs coach that may get more out of Stevenson. Between Johnson and Allen, Randle El and Harris, both sides of the ball have some of the best coaches the team has ever had. Plus Morgan is gone, which is a net positive. BearFan PHX
He brings a championship presence, hes a tough guy, and if Declan Doyle gets poached after Caleb has success, he is used to being an OC that doesnt call plays, so he could be waiting in the wings. I suppose it's the same if Doyle fails too. I think it's a smart move.

I expect them to draft a RB this year but not in the first 4 picks. If Cunningham is gone the 100th pick would be a good spot. Since the OL isn't complete yet I doubt we jump on a top RB. He definitely was a hard runner, and not a finesse guy. It's hard to say what order to draft guys in. I agree with you that OL is our primary issue, but we need RB, DL too. I think best player available comes into it, as well as what we get in free agency. This looks like a good year for a trade down, but i havent done any work yet on the players to even have a wrong opinion yet, no less a good one.
