Even if you have decent line that holds up most of the year, when you get to the big games and face the tough defenses, you have to be able to give your QB time no matter who they are. Trey Smith had a bad holding penalty but other than that Jalen Carter did very little in that game. I'm not sure what that says about either player. Stalemate? I do know that if I have to choose a QB to be under pressure I like more of what I've seen from Caleb than what Mahomes did tonight. To your point, any QB can be humbled and get his eyes down when under constant pressure. Mahomes had some time to take the short throws just not as much as he wanted to work the intermediate routes. Mahomes had nowhere to go all game. If you look back at it, Carter usually had Smith in a position where he could shed him. Both good players but not sure 23 mil to Trey may be well spent somewhere else. Milton Williams and Mecki Becton both had great games. Both are free agents. Philly can't pay both. We could sign Kevin Zeilter and Milton Williams for the 23-25 mil a year Trey Smith will get. We could sign M Becton and Cris Young for the same money as Trey Smith. A big money signing may well affect our draft plans, but i can tell you now that every year football teams fill all their holes with decent free agents so that they dont have to reach in the draft, but when good players drop to their pick in higher rounds, they pick them anyway, even if they just signed a free agent for the same position. Obviously this doesnt apply to $20 million dollar a year free agents, just as late round picks can go to any position, but first through 4th or 5th round, we take good players. Of course you could add a starting guard and still draft one. Competition is the key. Most rookies have a growth period. I think Poles has one big contract out there. That could very well be extending Kyler Gordon. Maybe 2 Nate Davis type adds, Chase Young won't get a big contract, 10-12 mil. Kevin Zeilter,Dave Dalman as a center won't be huge 12 mil?
