Johnathan Allen Released by Commanders

He is on the older side - but relatively healthy player up until this past season where he tore his pectoral.  Has a good relationship with Sweat and certainly could be an impact addition on the interior of the line.  Prior to last year though the guy pretty much always played and generated a real nice pass rush from the interior.

I would be very supportive of this move - sign him to a 2 yr deal with a 3rd year of dead money or something.

To your point - older DT's don't hold up well - and you can find real good DT's in round 2 or typically. I think we should add a free agent to help and a draft pick (2nd round or 3rd round - don't think 1st round makes sense unless Mason Graham falls to 10).  DE I prefer in Rd1 and prefer big money in FA going to a pass rushing DE too.

Keep seeing trade proposals and DL possibly signings.

Bosa, Mack, Hendrickson, Landry.

Sign someone that isn't a trade. Mack, Landry, Sweat. If we're going to pay 20 mil get Sweat that is young. I'm not sure Mack's giving you 10+ anymore. Sweat can contribute for 3 or 4 years. Prefer something like that.

Monday can't get here quick enough.  Get the big signing out of the way and wait for deals.

Sweat has never seemed to be more than average as a DE.  If someone is going to pay him $20mil/yr I hope its not us.  I'd take Mack on a 2yr deal over that especially with the talent in this draft.  Or maybe just go after the DE from Indy who won't cost as much and seems to be similar in production.   Even paying Mack $20mil a season makes me nervous.   There's a lot of DEs on the market and a guy like Sweat would make us better if we can wait out the initial scramble and grab one for a lower contract.   I don't really see a need to be first in here as compared to fixing OC.

I look at youth and see can they improve. Most will be like Walker was, 8 sack season and then fall off. Which one gets better? I hope they can figure it out because I surely don't know. Would rather pay for youth potential than old fallen off because of age.

I actually would just prefer 3 DL in the draft and let Booker have more development. Free agency is always overpriced.

I tend to think by year 3 or 4 you pretty much know what you've got in a player.

Hicks was the perfect example. He was in NE went to NO and when he came hear , exploded on to the scene. I get that's rare but sometimes you get surprised. Billings was an above salary player. TJ Edwards was another value signing.

I just don't think their paying Mack 20+, or Johnathan Allen 20 mil. More likely Poona Ford for a 1 yr 6 mil type player or Joseph Ossai 8 mil.

The biggest question is Dalman coming here,I'm not sure of that while lots of pundits believe it's happening.
