It is rumors, not actually reports. The only truth to the Bears and Jean try is they have spoken to coaches.

i have to ask.... that small of a RB (5'9")  in the nfl of today against 300+ lb tackles and ends seems like a stretch to me no matter how good he looks in college. he will get crushed and so i question how long and how effective this size of back can become. that is skat back size not your bell cow. if you draft him at 10 this is a freaking reach. if you move up to get him giving away draft picks it is criminally stupid.

am i misreading this? trade a 2nd round draft pick to move up and pick a 5'9 running back at #5? if so, i am TOTALLY against that scenario. even picking a 5'9 or 5'8 running back is questionable at #10. at that size his receiving skills are questionable and anyone covering him has size on him. i just don't see it. if poles does that he is nuts.

We aren't trading up and aren't drafting Jeanty. He won't be there.

I think the reason Green isn't rated high is some of his off the field problems he's had. Don't remember what they were. DUI or arrest for something. 17 sacks is great but having 61 Ts is a very active player.

The other issue is his size. He makes sense in a 3-4, but not sure he fits 4-3 DE, especially in Dennis Allen’s scheme.

I am not saying for the Bears to do this, only that this is an option being discussed.   He has been slotted top 6-10 since January by experts and writers. He is the same size as Jamyr Gibbs, 5'9 202 lbs, who the Lions took at 12. If Poles and Ben Johnson want him, they can see if drops to 10 or move up.

I don't think we draft RB at 10, but Jeanty is the real deal.  He's not a scat back either.  Weights 215, so that's a low center of gravity load to bring down.  Adding in, that he has the best contact balance I've seen since Sweetness.

Yeah, I dont think this time of year anyone has any clear view of what Poles will do. I believe stories that leak out 3 months after the draft possibly, but not now here weeks before the draft. Poles himself must have a pretty good idea, but still doesnt know, and cant control who gets picked ahead of us anyway.

Some small facts might leak out; if they went to dinner with a player, or a player tweets something etc

But Lamberts page right now is all rumors, and they are fun, but taken all together, we are absolutely drafting 15 different players at pick 10 LOL And Lambert NEVER says Banks LOL It's always Campbell or Membou. So screw him! LOL

Lambert might be one of their tools for rumors.  The fact its never Banks might be the tip off.

I would love to agree with this, but Lambert mostly repackages what other people say in tweets and interviews. I havent seen him claim anonymous inside sources in a while.

But the overall point is well taken, you hear everything but Banks out there in the twittersphere - maybe because if youre gonna say something the narrative behind Campbell and Momebou is strongest, or maybe because people are being tight lipped.

I mean, he wouldn’t exactly be an NFL an outlier. Six of the top ten rushers last year were 5’10” or shorter (Jonathan Taylor, Jahmyr Gibbs, Josh Jacobs, Kyren Williams, Aaron Jones, and Bucky Irving) and Gibbs, Williams, Jones, and Irving all weigh right at or less than Jeanty, so I don’t know how you can say he can’t hold up at that size. Now, some of those guys are newer to huge league so time will tell how well they hold up, but they seem to be doing Ok so far.

As much as we all have different ideas on who and when, they have 4 picks that will make our team better. Who ever they deem the best players, I will rout for whether I think they are good or not.  With the new coaching staff being involved in player evaluations, I trust whoever they take. As for the 4 players, I could give 50 combos as what I would like but I've leave that for brass to make the best decisions.

alright convince me on ashton jeanty at #10...

small, listed under 5'9" (5'81/2")

skipped the combine workouts AND many pro day workouts. no 40 times at all. so how fast is he really? how strong is he? didn't he skip the bench press and other workouts too? WHY?

2024 138 receiving yards? that is basically nothing if you want a dual purpose running and receiving running back threat in the NFL especially if his speed or ability to be evasive is supposed to be top end.

he has a lot of carries in his college career. that is wear and tear.

suspect blocking skills or abilities due to size?

compares to barry sanders or gibbs from the lions? first of all the division he played in is SECOND RATE compared to sanders big 8 conference and gibbs alabama SEC conference. didn't gibbs share duties with a hard inside running back, montgomery, with the lions? who is our montgomery type back still on our team right now? do we have to draft 2 backs this season?

i seem to remember people on this board calling it crazy that the lions even drafted gibbs that high last draft.

my conclusion: with a RB heavy draft we are going to possibly draft a guy like this at #10? if we traded down and had the chance to get him in the middle of the first maybe but at 10 with all the other talent in this draft at positions we really need do we do that?

i would rather see us trade down for a future first round pick if we don't see a player of need or value at 10. give us 2 firsts next year to move up in the draft if we needed to.

I called it crazy when the Lions took Gibbs and a mlb round 1.   Their roster was stocked decently with talent, so it wasn't completely out of line and maybe ahead of the curve.  They paid the price this season not getting more talent at DE.

I would personally rather see them continue building the lines.  If Poles/Johnson see Jeanty so much better than what's in the league now and the rest of the draft, I would embrace it.

Wow that's a crazy turn of events...and in our favor too!

and it might trigger another team to try and move up ahead of the Saints to get Sanders. So even if NO doesn't take him, at least 2 QBs should go in the top 9 now. With Dart being a potential 3rd QB to go if someone jumps NO.

This seems to rule out the Bears moving back though, because there would be no reason to jump to 10 for a QB if the next team to potentially take one would be PIT at 21. You could easily jump to the 17-20 range and grab one before them instead of going all the way up to 10.

Lions passed on B Robinson and traded back to draft Gibbs. Johnson doesn't want a load back he wants to run a versatile 2 back system.

I see elite contact balance and not much else elite so I'm not up for drafting him at 10 at all.  All the workout stuff he skipped are warning flags for me too.

I find it funny people would compare him to Barry Sanders...those are definitely young people who never watched Sanders make NFL defenders look silly in every single game grasping at air.  On the flip side defenders can easily get a hit on Jeanty...the question is can they get him down.   Gibbs is an open field runner but as seen in the playoffs he goes down easily in traffic.

Mongo says Jeanty has the best contact balance he's seen since Walter.  That style of running fits better as a comparison for Jeanty IMO.   But Walter was a unicorn in terms of elite workout regimen and durability.  Wherever Jeanty goes he'll break some tackles, make some big plays and get lots of media coverage this year.   I want to see where he's at in 5 years.

With the heavy workload he has had in college, I see him being a one contract player. Barkley didn't get another contact with the Giants. I prefer someone who has a better chance of being here 10 years.

I can make a case that Jeanty is far above the other HBs in this draft, or most drafts. That doesnt necessarily mean that we should take him at 10 though - thats a different question, and involves other players, our needs etc.

But Jeanty isnt too small, there are other backs in the league that are similarly sized and doing well.

I would just say that rather than looking at numbers, watch his tape. He is shifty as hell, and can switch holes in an instant. He's elusive AND punishing, and it's very hard to get him down. Whoever gets him will get a real star at HB. If it's us, I will be excited, but of course I think we should be disciplined and take the LT instead.

yeah but Barkley didnt fail to get a deal from the Giants because he was ground down, he played really well for the Eagles this year, no lost step, it's just the Giants are poorly run and have cap issues.

I agree with that. Many big name RBs don't get second contracts mainly before they want big money. Giants ( bad) balked on his 5th year that perpetuated him leaving.

yeah,m its one thing to draft a HB with a high pick, and another to pay that second contract.

This - I’d expand and say a stud lt, de or cb (if they have a high grade on one of the two guys projected top 15).

But ultimately - Jeanty looks like the real deal to me and he has a shot at being a top 5 in the league back. That’s a game changer and we need some of those so I totally get it if they go that way.

I also like the OSU backs a ton - Henderson being my preference.

I think we are all overlooking Kaleb Johnson. He's my #2 back after Jeanty, and I think we can get him in the 2nd round.

I think it goes
10 Banks
39 Kaleb Johnson
41 BPA of DL, S, WR or TE
