 Greg Gabriel said they finalized their draft board by Sunday. The next 10 days  will be going over different scenarios as to who they can get and at what point in the draft.Meetings with scouts going over tweaking the board.

Hampton visited the Bears today for a top 30 visit:

And WR Kyle Williams was there yesterday. Like him as a player but would like a bigger guy given that all our other WRs that figure to make the roster are under 6’0” besides Rome.

Finding a top RB looks to be a priority.  He'd be a guy to draft if they happen to trade down w Pittsburgh who could move up for a QB.

Definitely want one. He goes in the first round. Does anyone think they would take him at 10?

There is only 2 days left for pre draft visits . Aaron lemmings has 29 players listed for visits. He has no first round OTs unless Conerly slips to the first round. 

Does this mean we are not taking a OL at 10? It's possible, but if I'm reading the tea leafes, it's saying no.

I haven’t seen the full list of 29 players but what I saw two days ago didn’t have a single safety on the list.  I still think we’re drafting one on day 2.

They will definitely be taking an RB in the first 3 picks.

Which I won't like unless everyone surprise hates Jeanty and he slips to the Bears in the second round (he won't). 

The Bears would be better served waiting until the third round and getting Skattebo.

I think it could just as easily be a 3rd or 5th round pick. Deep RB draft.

Ben Johnson was not that high on Swift in DET, so I think RB may be a bigger priority than we now. I could be totally wrong there too. Depending on how the draft plays out, there may be a solid RB available in the 3rd.

One other wild card is Milroe. If somehow Milroe or Dart go in the 1st, or both, that would slide 1-2 positional players down for the Bears early 2nd rounders.

I was going off of the guys they had in for the top 30 visits. They all seemed to be at worst late 2nd rounders.

I listen to Dane Brugler on a podcast and he was talking about RBs. He thinks 2 will go in the first round and maybe 2 in the second. That most teams will wait until the 3rd and 4th round to get RBs. That could leave lots of good choices at 72. 

Jeanty - Hampton then Johnson and Henderson in the second. 

72- Judkins -Skattebo- Brashard Smith - Tuten 

I would say we wait until the third round to get a RB.

if youre just trying to maximize draft value, then I get this. Or if you had to draft a whole team in one year, for example, then this kind of thinking makes a lot of sense.

But as youve said, our roster is pretty deep now, we could go to war with just what we have and do better than we have in many years prior.

So rather than thinking that you could get Brashard Smith with a lower pick, you have to remember that it isnt just what you paid for them that matters, but how good they are on the field.

For example, getting Braxton Jones with a 5th round pick was incredible value. He has definitely outperformed his draft position. But is he as good as the other players on the OL now? And isnt that the real question when it comes to playing games?

To me there are 3 or 4 backs I would like to see on the Bears in this years draft:

Ashton Jeanty, Kaleb Johnson, TreVeyon Henderson and Bo Sketebo

Im not a fan of Hampton, and while the other may represent draft value, I dont think they are better than Swift and Roschon Johnson. And I think thats the real question?

I am speaking from the point of view that the bears think Swift is a good RB and are just seeking a complement choice. Most people think we need a Jeanty or Hampton, I think the bears don't think that.

I will add, Jeanty is a special back that I don't think will be there at 10. So is Hampton worth 10, I don't think so. As you they are going to add a OL, DL (S,TE, WR) with first 3 picks. I think that's the plan ( group of players) that Johnson was talking about.
