I am so glad we are finally knocking on the door of the draft. So far I've counted 83 perfect bears mock drafts I've read.

The Jeanty love fest will finally be over. I get people wanting a quality player but the amount of people thinking we are going to move up to draft him is insane. Everyone celebrating 4 top 72 picks and then turning around and give some of those picks away to move up. Those 4 picks should be quality starters if not this year but in the near future. We have more than one need, so taking away picks makes no sense to me.

well you know me, I want the LT, but if you think Jeanty (or any one player) is gonna be the next Walter Payton or Aaron Donald, its not wrong to trade up to get them. You can have a team full of pretty good players, but those superstars win superbowls and they are not easy to get.

It's not just grabbing the next Payton or Donald is also about losing some great assets. I think the only player worth moving up for is Carter. We would have to move to 2 or 3 to get him. He will cost more than one second rounder to move there. Let's say 39+72 and a future? We are still building the roster, doubt that happens.

I'm saying if you KNOW you're getting Payton or Donald, you dont worry about the assets it took. Of course no one knows, so its a gamble, but if as a GM youre sure, then you dont let some 2nd or 3rd round picks stop you from trading up to grab the superstar.

That's the risk, being wrong,no one knows a person is going to be Hall of Famer in a pre draft rookie season.

I would trade our 1st, a 2nd and a future 2nd to move up and get Carter. He’s a total stud end talent and in my mind you get that player on a rookie deal you do it. For the record I don’t think what I’m offering is quite enough but that is as steep as I would go. I’m not giving up a future 1st.

right, but if everything tells you that, then you take the risk. in your way of thinking youd have a team full of decent guys and no superstars, because superstars cost and they arent guaranteed?

you have to swing for the fences when the player is right. Just like we could have gotten a haul instead of Caleb. But we swung for the fences. And i still think we were right to do it - this season and next will show that.
