Mongo3451
Disclaimer: this is not about what is best long term... We talked a lot about blue chip players in the past. We currently have around 10. Looking at this draft, there aren't as many "can't miss" prospects at ten, as in the past. Looking at our 10 pick with the lens of who makes us better faster isn't usually best in the long run. Who is your guy in this draft that's an instant upgrade as a starter? Take into account learning curve per position. Please don't use someone that won't be available. Gimme your guy and why... BearFan PHX
just by position, HBs usually need the least amount of adjustment, and contribute immediately. Everyone else has a steeper learning curve. I suppose you could make the pass protection argument relating to HBs, there is probably some learning curve there, but when you give them the ball, they just hit the hole with their talent. So my answer to this question would be to pick your favorite HB. And for me that's probably Jeanty?
dawhizz
I’ve made this argument before, but if it isn’t Jeanty, I think the answer is pretty clearly either Jalon Walker or Jihaad Campbell. After losing Sanborn the starting SLB is either Noah Sewell or Ogbongbemiga, neither of which has logged significant game snaps at LB. With Walker or Campbell you get a clear upgrade at LB, plus a guy you can put at DE to rush the passer on passing downs when you bring in another DB. I think you can argue either of those guys would play the most actual snaps and have a pretty significant impact on the game for next year as compared to anyone else you could add. Here's the list: Best back to come out in years. Dude had 2000+ rushing yards after contact. He had the best contact balance I have ever seen.(Including Sweetness) He would make the OL better with his hole vision. He makes Caleb better as a true play action threat. He makes our receivers better, because he needs accounted for on every play. He makes Ben Johnson better by putting us in third and short. He makes our defense better by allowing us to control the ball more. I honestly don't see another player in the draft that makes the whole team better from day one. But, conventional wisdom and my tag line the the old site comes in like, "It all starts up front!"
Stinger226
I think Kenneth Grant is the upgrade over Billings. DL need 4 DTs to rotate anyways and we have no one there right now. I have heard some say Grant will be a better pro than Mason Graham since Graham's measurements were less than expected. He's slotted 15-25 so hopefully we trade back and still grab him. They will target a RB with speed in the second or third round.

Because if we believe in a RT, and they play well it and complete our line, it will win more games for us, and make any HB we have look good. That's the justification for why not. Another justification for why not, is if you beoieve there is another difference maker, maybe on DL that will help more? It's a difficult choice. Id personally take Kelvin Banks Jr over Jeanty, but if we do take Jeanty, i will be happy about it of course.

I'm not against Jeanty being on our team as you but I am trying to guess what they will do. If we draft Jeanty he will still share RB duties with RJ and Swift. Johnson wants flexibility to attack defenses, everyone will get snaps. They're other backs that can contribute that will be taken in the second and third round leaving open the first few picks for upgrading the trenches. I think he is looking for speed . Jayden Blue ran a 4.25 at his pro day if the article I read was accurate. He is use to platooning and doesn't have a lot of millage on his body. Another intriguing back that they are bringing in for a visit is Brashard Smith/ SMU. At Miami he was a WR that ran some . SMU made him a RB. He has 4.39 speed with excellent hands and route running. He seems like the perfect weapon Johnson would bring in a a mid round pick. We can probably get either of them at pick 72. My new dream draft Trade back in round 1 and take Kenneth Grant, with an extra 2nd. Josh Conerly - Princely Umanmien - Isaiah Bond At 73 Brashard Smith. ( I have a lot of free time on my hands).
