Lemon's Mock 1.0

10. Kelvin Banks Jr OT Texas- I think there needs to be competition for both Jone and Kiran

39. Quinshon Judkins Ohio St, RB- Swift is not an every down back and Johnson can't avoid concussions with his running style. This prospect is a tough inside runner and a beast in pass pro.

41. Mike Green Edge-Sacks are scarce and the Bears need serious competition at this position, his stats in college are impressive.

72.. Elijah Arroyo TE Miami I have watched this player practice at the Senior Bowl and he was a matchup nightmare. A toy for Ben Johnson.

148. Malachi Moore S Miami- an aging Byard and a concussed Brisker tells me the Bears need depth at the position

233.Jimmy Horn Jr WR Slot Colo -unless DJ Moore Or Odunze is going inside, this is competition for Tyler Scott

240. Eric Gregory DL3T Ark - his listed size and weight say 1 T so a student for both Billing and Garrett

This is my first swing at a mock this offseason and I will probably do 1 more before the draft. I'm a Dinosaur, so I actually use Big boards and my actually watching the players play during their season as my reference.

Nice job! Pretty realistic which can be hard, except that I don't think Mike Green would be there at 41 (plus I don't think he's a likely Bears target due to character concerns), but swap him out with one of the 2nd round DEs like Landon Jackson or JT Tuimolloau, and I think this makes a lot of sense.  I would personally swap the TE and WR picks - I think WR3 is a bigger need than TE2, although with Arroyo being able to be moved around maybe he can play enough in the slot that he helps in that area.  I wouldn't be mad at all with this, though.

I'm not sure it will fall that way but you do have good names.

I get the impression this is what you would do. Is that what you think the bears will do?  I'm not sure it's considered being a dinosaur to watch film ( 80% of the grade) and view other people's opinions.

I think you did get the first 3 positions right but not necessarily in that order. If the bears think Banks is the best LT in the draft they may very well draft him. I personally think they will not draft a OL in the first round but if they bring him in for a 30 visit that would be more likely.

So far they have met with 3 OTs Josh Conerly, Anthony Belton and John Williams and 2 IOL. Conerly is top 50 but not considered a first round pick. Obviously teams make grade that differently than football pundits. By their actions ( not bringing in the top 4 Ts) I don't think they will do that. Of course that doesn't mean they wouldn't, just trying to read the tea leafs.

I do note the fundamental difference between what most of us are saying, and what you are saying. We are mostly saying who we want, what the bears should do, while you are more predicting what you think they WILL do. And what's interesting about that is that we could disagree and both be right. I could want banks, and be "sure" that's the right move, and you might predict they take Jeanty (or whoever) and they do that.

One difference is that unless they take the guy I want, I can never "prove" I was right, at least not for a few season and see how the players turn out int he NFL, and that's still not proof, because a guy could do well on one team, and bust out on another. Whereas we will all know if you were "right" or not, because we will all see who the Bears actually do pick. That's a blessing and a curse for sure, but you could be able to say "see I was right" whereas me arguing that Im right Banks is the right pick is much harder to prove, even if we take him.

But anyway, I do note the difference, and respect it.

Of course I have my own opinions but it comes down to what the bears decide so I try to pick their brains. I will probably totally be off base. In general the fans look differently at roster construction than Poles does.

We're a couple weeks away from being surprised. Poles does that.

Yeah, well we are all just guessing.

Im just saying I get that you're doing something a little different - trying to predict - instead of saying who you would take if it was your choice. Theyre related, but not the same thing, and so Im reading what you write through that lens. Which is cool.

Green in the 2nd and Arroyo in the 3rd would be crazy.

At 248lbs with 32" arms Green is nothing but a pass rusher in this scheme.  I think he fits better as an edge in a 3-4 front.   I think there are better options at 41 that can give us quality snaps on both run downs and pass downs.  We saw Austin Booker get swallowed up and pushed around play after play last year.   I think Booker's frame can handle more muscle and we'll see a better player this year.  I wouldn't bet on him as the 3rd man in the DE rotation.  If we were to lose one of our two DE starters our run defense would be in trouble (again).

Many have said this. James Pierce is 6.5 and the same weight and is considered a good edge setter and run defender. His frame could probably handle 15 more lbs, at 260  would be doable. Micah Parsons isn't large but I never really  people say he's bad against the run. Averaged around 65 Ts a a season.

Micah plays LB not DE although he steps into DE on some pass rush downs.  Do we know if Green can play LB because there isn't a lot of film on that as far as I know?  From the AI summary....Dallas keeps him off the LOS on run downs to avoid wearing him down and he's very effective off the ball.  The most similar skillset to Parsons in this draft is Abdul Carter who also played LB at Penn St.

Micah Parsons is a versatile player for the Dallas Cowboys who has played multiple positions. In the 2024 season, he played 694 snaps as a defensive end (ED), ranking 30th out of 211 defensive ends in terms of snap count. However, his role has been diverse throughout his career. In 2021, of his 961 defensive snaps, 390 were as a defensive lineman, 540 were as a box defender, and the rest were as a coverage player. Parsons' ability to play different positions has made him a valuable asset to the team, but his main position is linebacker, where he excels in tackling and pass rushing.

Josh Conerly is my target because, I believe they may be going different from what we all think and the offseason so far has proved that there's a new approach. I'm thinking Shadeur Sanders is the wild card in the first round. If he goes in the top 10 or is on the board at10 anything goes.

Having fun on a pre-draft Saturday.  At PFN I'm still getting offers for #10.  The first mock I did was Dallas wanting Jeanty so I dropped back to 12.   That worked out very well too.

This one had Denver wanting Walker so I dropped back to 20.  Later I made a few small trades back (i.e. 41 to 44) and ultimately was able to snag a bunch of day 3 picks to ramp up the competition in camp.

The article says his main position is LB yet in 2024 694 snaps were at DE, 30th in the league? Would Allen use someone like Pierce like this?

I do mocks every day ( I'm a dreamer) and many of those names pop up all the time. I think if they take a second RB it would be someone like Jayden Blue that has true speed and have never heard of the WR before.
