Flacco shows off strong arm at NFL combine

INDIANAPOLIS -- University of Delaware quarterback Joe Flacco participated in the first group of quarterbacks Sunday in the quarterback-receiver drills at the NFL scouting combine, along with Michigan's Chad Henne, Hawaii's Colt Brennan, USC's John David Booty, Louisville's Brian Brohm and other college standouts.

As projected, Flacco's arm strength separated him from the pack, especially on deep routes and sideline patterns.

Given that he ran a spread offense in college, footwork -- particularly on his three-step drops -- didn't appear to be a hindrance. He also bounced back well after mistakes. In one drill, a 15-yard post corner, his timing was off and he threw wide of both receivers. On his second attempt, though, he completed both passes and looked much sharper.

Flacco had also hoped to dispel notions that he's not athletic compared to his counterparts. He didn't place among the top quarterback times in the 40-yard dash, but his vertical jump of 28.5 was fifth-best among quarterbacks

So he can throw great without pads in a dome. Amazing.

Also, how could he not place among the top QBs in the 40, where he finished 4th, yet he did in the vertical jump when he came in 5th?

Can an admin merge all ten Flacco threads as well?
