Urlacher contract ext

The Bears and Brian Urlacher are discussing a restructuring of his contract.

Urlacher signed a nine-year deal in 2003, but will make just $3.95 million this season, as salary inflation has far exceeded the increments in his agreement. The timing is bad for Urlacher, though, as he suffered with a sore back for much of last season, and still won't be able to run for two more weeks after undergoing neck surgery.

Michael Turner is visiting the Falcons Friday.

Atlanta, looking for a power rusher, is the most logical landing spot for Turner. We wouldn't be surprised if he signs Friday. The Lions, Bears and Saints are also said to be actively pursuing the running back

The Vikings have reached a six-year agreement with Madieu Williams, formerly of the Bengals.

We'll doubt he'll be cheap, but Williams was one of the best young defensive starters available in free agency. He's similar to a younger Darren Sharper, which means the Vikings have great ball skills and not a lot of thump at safety.

I think JA is already having a bad offseason. He should be worried about Berrian, Briggs, Faneca, etc, rather then guys who won't be elgible to leave until next offseason, like Tommie, or in this case, Urlacher (even though his contract doesn't expire until 2012 or whatever it is).

Unless Turner gets 2x what he's worth from Atlanta, why would he go there? Bad situation all around there.

If the Vikings get a QB and a WR (Berrian), we may as well just hand them the 2008 NFC North crown. :crying

I agree, why worry about making sure urlacher is financially happy, why not make him happy by surrounding his team with some friggin talent. letting briggs walk even tho we did offer two different contracts now, is such a huge mistake/loss. We are marching toward 4-12 again.

"With the 3rd pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears select...Michael Oher, Mississippi." :cheers :headbang

Yeah...I think it's great and all, but couldn't this have been done months ago? THis is FA time! Let's get some darn FA's already!

I don't know that we are in any position to call another team a bad situation. Unless Jerry pulls some very shocking moves out of his hat, we are looking at a potentially historically bad offense next year. Think John Shoop bad. And the defense, which was pretty average last year, lost one of its biggest playmakers, Harris is coming off surgery, and we have no dependable players at safety, one of the most important positions in the cover 2 defense.
