ostrogoth
The Redskins are not believed to be interested in free agent LB Lance Briggs, according to the Chicago Sun Times. It looks like Briggs overestimated the market. He hasn't even made a visit yet to our knowledge. If he makes it through the first wave of free agency, Denver, Cleveland, and Tampa Bay could up their efforts to pursue him.
ostrogoth
LB Lance Briggs will reportedly meet with the Buccaneers. We heard this in another area earlier Friday, but the source was shaky. It's uncertain when the sides will meet. In terms of money, Briggs could be this year's Cato June, not that he'll come that cheap. Also a Tampa 2 weak-side linebacker, June wound up with a three-year, $12 million deal. AZ54
3 years $12million, how many Lamborghini's does that buy? Wait, I forgot to take out child support.

Source: Tampa Tribune Washington has been way to careless in their spending the last couple of years, hence their not looking too hard at Briggs. And apparenlty because they may have "tampered" with Briggs before they were allowed, San Fran has backed off a bit in their pursuit. I think you hit it on the head with the line "...Briggs could be this year's Cato June..." in so many ways. For one he will not thrive as well as he did in Chitown, much like Cato June did in Indy before going to Tampa Bay. And he (Briggs) is over-hyped for the money he wants. Another reason that TB may be hesitant. Time will tell.
Butkus
Despite his character issues, if he can be had for a reasonable price I hope we pick him up.
