Connorbear
If Walter came out in today's draft, Mel Kiper would have been jerking off to his picture on ESPN - it would have been a no-doubter like maybe never before. Holy crap is that funny!!!!!! Peace
adam
At this rate, we probably go WR and OG in the 3rd, since all the QBs are off the board. I think we'll just play this season out with Rex and Orton as the QBs... Love the Forte pick. You have a great shot at being 4 for 4 with your predictions. I could see the Bears going WR (Doucet) and OG in the 3rd.

I was just going to post that. I wouldn't mind Caldwell then Schuening, as we probably couldn't get Schuening AND Doucet. BTW, I wouldn't mind Kevin O'Connell from SDSU in the 4th or 5th. I don't want to see us get Woodson, Brennan, or any of those other overachievers.
SoxFan1
I think the Bears need to focus on WR and WB/OL in the 3rd round. WR is definitely a need, and I can see them taking Manningham if he is there, and hopefully Doucet. There really isn't a QB I'd take in the 3rd. I'd rather spend a 4th on Woodson or Ainge or Booty. Angelo may also look at someone like Craig Steltz, Quintin Demps or Tom Zbikowski to add another safety.
BearSox
I would have personally drafted Albert over Williams, but I can understand going with Williams over Albert. At first I was kind of upset, but then again, JA and all the scouts the Bears have know a lot more then me. I think it came down to the fact that Williams has played LT his whole college career and is very smart. If he can get some nasty in him, he can be a hell of a player probably. He was already probably the best pass blocker (outside of Long) in the whole draft, now we just have to teach him to run block.

He was already probably the best pass blocker (outside of Long) in the whole draft, now we just have to teach him to run block. I hate that line of thinking. In many cases it's true, but in many other cases it's just plain wrong. The saying, "Too far into the forest to see the trees" comes to mind. These guys do this so long, so much, with nitpicking on top of insignificant details, that they can talk themselves in and out of decisions that they'd normally not make. How many times have you talked yourself into a decision because you got your mind set on something, rather than taking the obvious choice? Get hung up on something that sparks your interest, and the next thing you know there is a poor choice because of something minor that just happened at the right time. What I know is what I have seen. I know the players I have focused on when watching the games. And a lot of the times all this extra crap gets in the way of seeing how good a person is at just playing football. On top of all this, let's be honest...the Bears' management has pretty much sucked at picking offensive talent. So, I'm not so sure they actually do know more than the average avid football fan. Do they have more resources? Yes. But that doesn't mean they make the smart/right decision.
Bears4Ever_34
Hmm I didn't get to see any of the draft because I had prom, but its good to see that we got a reliable offensive lineman although I would rather have seen us take Mendenhall.. I don't know anything about this Forte guy, but I'm sure I will by tomorrow.

When I first read your post I thought it said: Hmm I didn't get to see any of the draft because I had PORN Better go do some eye drops, might be a long day, LOL
adam
3rd Round Hopefuls: Early Doucet, Andre Caldwell, Earl Bennett at WR Roy Schuening at OG 4th Round Hopefuls: Chad Rinehart at OG Josh Johnson at QB I would be happy with 2 out of these 5 for the next 3 picks. It seems like JA will always throw a sleeper in there.
Controlled Chaos
I want Jacob Hester at FB. That won't happen, but I'd love if the Bears got him. So what does this Forte pick mean for Wolfe? EDIT: Spoke too soon...Hester just went to SD.

Ed Hochuli 3:16
Hester in the 3rd? What a joke. Bears take Earl Bennett with their first 3rd. Like the pick, Bilitnekoff Award nominee, but I would of rather had Early Doucet, who is still on the board. They take Earl Bennett from Vanderbilt. Who?? 6'1, 200 lbs., last year, he caught 75 balls for 800+ yards. In 2006, he caught 82 balls for 1140+ yards, and in 2005, he caught 79 balls for 870+ yards. Also, SD gave up a 2nd in 2009 and a 5th this year for Jacob Hester. Talk about a reach. So essentially they valued him as a mid-2nd pick. Hell, I probably would have rather had Caldwell out of Florida, but Lovie and JA obviously saw something. Hopefully it turns out for the best... I agree. Peyton Hillis is the best FB in the draft, and probably followed by Owen Schmitt, yet they take the 3rd best here. Wow.

bschmaranz
6'1, 200 lbs. ESPN said he was like 5'11" but Kiper and Cris Carter both like him and Kiper said he's comparable to Hines Ward. That'd be nice, hehe. I'm not a big fan of shorter wide-outs but he seems like a tough kid, likes to go over the middle.

BTW, if he's anything even close to Hines Ward, he'll become a favorite here in Chicago. BTW, Zuttah and Schuening both still on the board. IMO, Wasted pick...we have bigger beeds than another poss receiver.
bschmaranz
You know this may be a poor draft for your team when you take two players from Vanderbilt. I'm just kidding, but it is kinda funny that we have two guys from Vandy. I like both picks personally.
HoofHearted
Would have preferred a bigger/faster wide receiver, but Earl is a damn fine prospect even if he doesn't address our need for size at the receiver corps(5'11-1/2).
bschmaranz
SI's analysis of Earl Bennett: BIOGRAPHY: Three-year starter awarded all Conference honors since his freshman campaign. Junior totals included a team leading 75/830/5 after a career-best 82/1146/6 as a sophomore. Posted 79/876/9 as a freshman. POSITIVES: Sure handed, possession receiver best in the intermediate field. Quickly releases into routes, nicely adjusts to the errant throw and looks the pass into his hands. Comes back to the ball, uses his frame to shield away opponents and makes the difficult reception with defenders draped on him. Displays good focus and concentration, coming away from the crowd with the ball. Relatively effective running after the reception. NEGATIVES: Must improve his route running. Rounds off breaks and slowly exits routes. Marginal quickness and speed in his overall game. ANALYSIS: Bennett has been an ultra-productive receiver in one of the nations top conferences. He projects well as a second receiver at the next level and should be a solid compliment for a team with a speedy wide out. PROJECTION: Late Sixth Round
HoofHearted
He actually runs pretty precise routes, and is surprisingly quick. His 10 yard dash of 1.47 was no surprise to me, because he is just a quick twitch guy, who breaks verr well in-and-out.
bschmaranz
ESPN also mentioned you can't really dig too deeply into his numbers because they had a poor QB.
