I was just wondering what players everyone wanted to start?

I hope that the following comes true:

-QB: Kyle Orton

-RB: Cedric Benson

-WR: Bradley, Booker, Bennett

-TE: Olsen

Other thoughts about who you want to start?

Best case, what I would hope for:

QB - Orton

RB - Benson

WR - Bennett & Bradley

TE - Olsen

Benson over Forte because his being their means he stepped up and earned it. Forte being there may have as much to do w/ Benson flopping as Forte stepping up. No Booker at WR because if Bennett and Bradley are starting, that would mean they played lights out in order to beat out Booker.

IMHO our starter will be as such if used right.

Offense

QB Grossman....better arm than Orton, Rex will be better because of sitting on the bench last year.

RB Benson will start(vet) but Forte will play we will use that 1-2 punch thing like Jones/Benson

FB will be McKie

WR Booker/Bradley will be the starters, but Davis,Hester, Lloyd will see time. Bennet/Monk will be in the mix also- good camp battle.

LT will be Williams

LG hopefully will be St.Clair but might have Beekman/Barton pushing him

C will be Kruetz

RG will be Garza but might have Adams/Poles pushing him

RT will be Tait

TE will be Clark/Olsen. Davis will be the third TE

Defense

LE Anderson will be there

DT Harris will start with Harrison behind him

DT Dvoracek will start with Adams/Toeaina as subs

REO-Gun will be first

SLB Hillenmeyer

MLB Urlacher

WLB Briggs

CB Vasher McBride/Manning Jr

CB Tillman with Bowman/Graham fighting it out

SS McGowan with Payne/Steltz in the mix

FS Brown with D.Manning

Alex Brown?

Remember he was on the bench behind Anderson last year until Anderson hurt his knee. But i think with Baldwin and Bazuin and the other three DE we signed are poised to give some real competition at camp this year.

Ditton on Benson and I'd put Rex in the same category. I've seen what he can do when he gets it right. Now, I may be engulfed in Kool Aide, or some other halucinogenic, but IF Rex could eliminate the stupid mistakes, wow! Then agian, it must just be the effects of drugs and altitude, uh? :crying

Great breakdown Wesson44. I think that Brown probably will get the nod over Anderson, though I'd like to see Mark take over the position. And I'd love to see Poles make an impression at G, god knows we need some starters AND depth there. I think Benson's gonna have to live with being part of an RB tandem or trio if Wolfe comes to camp with some resolve. MMMMM, taste that Kool Aide!

This is what I would like to see as our depth chart going into the game at Indy:

WR LT LG C RG RT TE WR

Bradley Williams Beekman Kreutz Garza Tait Olsen Lloyd

QB

Orton

FB

McKie

RB

Forte

LE LT RT RE

Ogunleye Harris Dvoracek Brown

WIL MID SAM

Briggs Urlacher Hillenmeyer

LCB FS SS RCB

Tillman Brown Vasher McGowan

P

Maynard

K

Gould

RTN

Hester

I may not have the position order correct however, this is what I think if everyone is healthy will give us the best chance of having a descent season. I give the nod to Orton over Grossman because I think Orton is better at managing the game. Forte I think will clearly beat out Benson and WRs could go many ways. On defense, we can only hope that Mike Brown stays healthy for the first time in four years for an entire season. If that happens, then we'll see an improvement on defense. The hard part is getting more playing time for McBride. We'll start to see what happens for sure in about eleven weeks when training camp starts.

I here what you are saying, and thought about this myself. In the end, it came down to what each player brings/potentially brings, above the shoulders. Below the shoulders, I believe there is no question Rex is the better. Where I feel he fails is above the shoulders, and that is not something I believe can develop. I have no clue if Orton has it above the shoulders or not, though I will say his pocket presense has looked pretty good, but not knowing is a step up from Rex.

I would love for Rex to prove me wrong, but I have flat out given up on him. Rex Grossman to me is similar to Simms. Plenty of talent, but not enough upstairs to be a NFL Qb.

What is it with the Orton lovers? The man would be a 2 or 3 on most teams.

It is not a love afair w/ Orton so much as giving up on Rex.

In Rex, many fans simply feel we know what we have, and it just isn't that good. Most of those same fans would share skepticism in Orton, but at the same time, he is simply more of an unknown, and in this situation, unknown may be better than the known.

Orton may suck, plain and simple. But the "may" in that sentence is still a step better than the belief that we know Rex sucks. You may disagree, but I am trying to explain what you perceive as a love afair for Rex.

Maybe its like the feelings at RB. I often asked what was up w/ the love afair for AP. Last year, fan after fan talked about how AP could start for many teams, and my response? Huh? Now I think it wasn't so much love for AP as much as contempt for Benson. So maybe Orton is AP. A backup fans like because of the dislike for the starter ahead of him.

Or maybe he is different. Maybe he is a player who, if given a chance, can be a better QB than Rex. I really do not know, but I would at least like to see the open competition to find out.

Another little thing with Orton is that he has this odd habit of having the team win when he's in there. Bears were 2-1 with him last year, and were 11-5 with him at the helm in most of 05 with him as a rookie. Yes a lot of damage is done by the defense, but there is something to be said about a guy who's team wins when he's in at QB.

QB Rex. I think an improve running game will help out Rex immensely. I would support Orton if he could show he has the balls to stick the deep throw as consistent as Rex can or if Orton would shave his facial hair into a Prince Albert because that's just F'n funny.

RB Forte. Benson is just going to be a distraction this season.

WR Bradley, Davis, and Hester in the slot. All three of these WR have speed and I prefer the pass offense to stay aggressive to make opposing teams pay when they drop a safety into the box.

Te Olsen, again with the aggressive pass offense.

Ideally I would want the passing yards per completetion to be around the 9-12 yards area.

Hass? C'mon, man. I like the idea of us finding a steal, too, but there is no way in hell the guy starts. I could give you a hundred reasons why it's not going to happen.

Anyone who knows me or reads my posts...knows he was going to be on my list. IMO he is exactly what this team needs. It was a who do you want to start list, not who is going to start. Realistically, I think Booker will start with Bradley. Hass will do everything he is asked in camp...run crisp routes, catch everything thrown to him, continue to know every position, give the QB(whoever it may be) the confidence they desperately need and then........he will get cut. People here will throw their arms up and rejoice that they don't have to listen to me bitch about him not getting a shot anymore.

I'm really hoping for the same...

I know too little about Forte at the moment to supplant Cedric (but that could cahnge with the recent events and/or injury situation)
