Wilson IR official

I thought he was a very solid ST player just by watching. There could be the small things (yet big things) I miss in the course of watching the KR/PR, either Hester or the opposing teams', like missing blocks or whatever, but he is always in on tackles.

He is a loss but not a huge one, not season changing or anything. This is where losing Ayan looks big to me.

This is a bigger blow then some might think. Not huge by any means, but he was a solid backup and very good special teamer. The final two linebacker spots are now between McClover, Roach, and Okwo now. I don't think we will carry more then 6, but you never know with the Bears.

Heck, this works out for the Bears because we would have probably cut him anyway. I got the impression he was behind McClover, Roach, and Okwo (he wasn't really behind Okwo, but Okwo's a 3rd round pick).

Look for us to IR Bazuin next.

CHICAGO (TICKER) —The Chicago Bears waived injured linebacker Rod Wilson on Friday.

The fourth-year player was carted off the field late in the third quarter of Thursday’s preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers. He suffered a broken right forearm after making an awkward tackle on 49ers running back Thomas Clayton.

A seventh-round draft pick out of South Carolina in 2005, Wilson was a key member of the Bears’ special teams the last two years. He was third on the club with 16 special-teams tackles in 2007.

I would be really surprised to see Bazuin IR'ed. Okwo on the other hand though...

Why wouldn't we IR Bazuin? He's not fully recovered from his knee injury, and at best, he's the #4 defensive end. Heck, he might be behind Idonije.

You'd rather just cut him then keep him on the injury list for another year? He's a 2nd round pick. Why would you do that?

It would be hard for them to justify putting Bazuin on IR because he has played significant time in the last two games and he seemed to be moving well in both IMO.Dusty OTOH has had just a cup of coffee on the field so far.Right now Idonije is probably the 3rd down tackle in obvious passing situations alongside Harris with Ogunleye and Anderson at end.

Don't be surprised if the Bears did cut him. They have cut 3 first rounders and 1 2nd rounder in Angelo's tenure.Remember Michael Haynes, Marc Columbo and Roosevelt Williams?

I never said anything about cutting. Bazuin has looked pretty good on the field this preseason, contrary to what some people think, and is our 4th DE. Mark Anderson is our pass rush specialist, but in all reality, that's all he is. He doesn't have the size our power to be a fulltime DE as we saw last year. So if one of Ogunleye or Brown goes down, that leaves us just with Anderson. It's never a bad thing to have a lot of depth.

Also, Idonije isn't a DE anymore, and I wouldn't even say he was a DE for us before. The only time he will play DE for us is if we either have mass injuries at the DE spot or perhaps in goalline. Idonije will be our 3rd down DT.
