Okwo and Baziun cut

I'll be shocked if Bradley gets cut.

Then again, who knows with this team. :banghead

Wow- we agree.

We'd all love to think he can be a productive player, but his inconsistent hands and his inability to stay healthy leads me to believe he'll have a spot on this team, but if we get deeper this offseason at the WR position, he'll be out. He is just a liability. If the season gets out of hand, I hope he can stay healthy and prove us all wrong that he can be a good player in the league.

The Bazuin pick just totally upsets me because we wasted that when we could have had Oline help. Same goes for Okwo.

I know that maybe if one of those guys would have came to the Bears it could have been a different story, but if you look at the guys picked after Bazuin, nobody stands out as a current good player.

Bazuin will get picked up soon, and the same goes for Okwo.

Bazuin has the potential, however, Okwo is too small, IMO.

pretty good 2nd and 3rd round picks there

What makes me more frustrated is that Tony Ugoh was projected in the combine as an athletic starting LT prospect and while the team new they had an aging OL the Bears got cute and traded down for a guy that they just cut!

Ugoh could be starting at LT this season after replacing Miller last season at RT. Then they copuld have added Braden Albert this year instead of Williams and plugged him in at LG but what do I know I am no draft guru!

Not just Ugoh. I was screaming for Blalock too. Blalock, Ugoh, and one other (can't recall now who) were who I was really wanting to see. Blalock by the way became a starter at LG. Not a position we need or anything. And whats up w/ Ugoh. You think we need a LT?

Albert is who I wanted this year too. As I saw it, Albert had HUGE upside at LT. I also felt his floor was upper tier OG. Both are positions we need, so he seemed like a win/win situation. Williams I feared was LT or bust, and felt he was too finese for a run first team. Think Blake Brockemeyer. That's not a bad thing, but no close to what I felt Albert could be.

It funny you guys are in love with both Braden Albert and Chris Williams and aren't they both like HURT and not playing right now!!!

Sorry, but do you really not see the difference? Williams suffered a major injury related to a previous problem, known at draft time.

Albert, to my understanding, has a minor injury that is not thought to be very serious.

yes i see the point but hurt and not playing are still the same for both players. So did Albert tell the Chiefs he had bad ankles?

Some of you already knew this but there's a suntimes article pointing out that Bazuin was hurt during rookie camp last year and has had injury issues ever since, according to Bazuin himself. JA can't be held responsible for that stuff, which happens to every GM's draft picks once in a while...Chris Williams is of course possible another thing all together.

Also, Ugoh is overrated. If he played for the Bears, he'd likely not be that good... however, he was put in the completely perfect situation with the Colts. The Colts could make any bad-mediocre OLineman and turn them into all-pros.

And I don't blame us for the trade down, we got a ton of value for that pick. It was poor execution with the picks though... even though I think we should have kept Bazuin.

I fail to see why we would keep Toenia instead of Bazuin...

That is a no brainer. Toenia can rush the passer from the middle, he is a bid body against the run and oh might I add this...he has not been hurt since he has been with the Bears and came at a much cheaper price too. Now Bazuin came to the team hurt and has been for the last two years and you say you fail to see why we would keep Toenia? I we didn't keep him I would have kept Baldwin instead of Bazuin.

I agree about Toeina and I am a little surprised they kept him with Harrison and Idonije in the mix inside. As for Bazuin when was he going to play? Ogunleye,A.Brown,Anderson and Idonije will get most of the PT at end so that points to depth in the middle being more important where the Bears rotate players a lot. With Harris and Dusty coming back from injury you need another body inside.

Sorry, but I disagree. Look at our roster. We are loaded at DE. Last year and this year, there was simply no reason to draft another DE. Even if he did get healthy, and showed a glimmer here and there, when would we play him? Despite all the talk about a rotation, we generally do not use more than 3 in that rotation.

If we were talking about an OL Angelo drafted that just couldn't stay healthy (and no signs of injury potential in college), then it would be harder to blame him. But he drafted a player that simply didn't come close to filling a need. He ignored big needs to draft a 4th DE. DAY ONE! Yes, I can blame Angelo. This was as bad of a pick then as it is now.

I think it was a matter of Angelo feeling he had to draft a player because of need instead of the best player available which is what he usually tries to do.

I heard on the Score a discussion about the drafting of Okwo & Bazuin. Going into that draft JA thought he would be losing A Brown & L Briggs. He felt he needed to draft do to "projected needs" at those positions. Now we see what can happen when you draft for need over BPA. You can come up empty a lot as did the Bears.

I understand what you are saying, but here is the problem i have w/ that. We have "actual" needs, and what you are talking about is "potential" needs. Further, they were "potential" needs based on players who were not FAs, and were under our control. They may have been griping, but they were none-the-less under our control.

This year, at the time of the draft, Urlacher was a very unhappy guy, or so he told the media. Situation was similar to our past w/ Briggs. Urlacher may not have been as harsh in his words, but retirement talk was enough to put it on the same level for me. Anyway, the point is, would Urlacher's talk have made LB a 1st day need this year?

I don't think so. For me, what it still comes back to is (a) Angelo simply prefers defense and (B) Angelo sees more potential in defensive players than offense. I think the 2nd point is partially at least because he isn't a good offensive evaluator, thus defensive players will often look better than offensive in his eyes. We should have been going offense w/ those picks, but didn't.

So even if Bazuin had turned out well, you have a problem with his draft pick as a matter of principle because it nevertheless had a low percentage of success (due to us being stacked at DE). OK. I can somewhat accept that. I think need and best player available is a balancing act. Just remember that even if A.Brown had been sure to stick around, at this time last year he was coming off a poor season.
