Bucs re-signed SS Jermaine Phillips.

Terms have not yet been disclosed. Phillips received little free agent interest, with only the Chargers and Seahawks sniffing around. Instead he'll return to the starting lineup at strong safety in Tampa, with Sabby Piscitelli staying in a reserve role. Mar. 5 - 6:14 pm et

Jermaine Phillips would have been a good pick up, but with Payne at SS we really need a FS

We don't really need a safety. We are set w/ Steltz and Payne.

But according to our coaches, the two safety positions are interchangable. I would argue Phillips is better in coverage than anything we have now. Whether he was to play FS or SS, I simply think he would have provided us an upgrade, not to mention adding leadership and experience.
