1. Eben Britton, OT, Arizona

2. Duke Robinson, OG, Oklahoma

3. Phillip Hunt, DE, Houston

3. Brandon Gibson, WR, Washington State

4. Johnny Knox, WR, Abilene Christian

5. Joe Burnett, CB, Central Florida

6. Tony Fiammetta, FB, Syracuse

7. Robert Brewster, OT, Ball State

Thoughts?

I like the two WRs, but if we resign SC dont see us drafting a OG high. We have the two starters from last year, Omiyale, and Buening. I think Duke would be a stud, just dont think the Bears will look at it that way. I dont see the starters from last year starting and hope the new guys are an upgrade. Have you read the stats on Knox, he has stud stats, and fast, just dont know if it will translate to the NFL. I like the FB, but see us drafting Gill/DT/ NW with the 6th or 7th pick. They have had visited him twice and has better numbers than anyone at the combine listed DT.

Not bad at all. But I think that a body who can compete for a starting job at safety and a quality WR are both bigger needs than a pure guard at this point, since we have 4 guards on the roster (Buenning, Garza, Beekman, and Omiyale) with starting experience and only 3 WRs who caught a pass last year. I've been working on a mock myself (with the projected 4th & 2 7ths in compensation) and this is how I would go:

1) Hakeem Nicks, WR, North Carolina

2) Jairus Byrd, DB, Oregon

3) Kraig Urbik, OG, Wisconsin

4) TJ Lang, OT, Eastern Michigan

4) Stephen McGee, QB, Texas A&M

5) David Veikune, DE, Hawaii

6) Quan Cosby, WR, Texas

7) Brannan Southerland, FB, Georgia

7) Terrill Byrd, DT, Cincinnatti

That gives you a starting caliber WR in Nicks right away, as well as another sure-handed guy ready to step in and contribute in Cosby (maybe a poor man's Lance Moore?). Byrd can make a strong run at starting at FS from day one. Urbik and Lang are versatile linemen who can both push for time at either guard or RT. McGee is a nice, athletic QB prospect who reportedly really impressed at A & M pro day. Veikune and Byrd provide you with speed on the DL to put in the rotation in hopes of generating a better pass rush, and Southerland gives you a strong blocker to push McKie (though he may need a year to recover from an injury in the last year).

Not bad but I'm not a big Urbik guy anymore and Lang is projected as an OG in the pros. Keep Lang and instead of Urbik, put an OT in his spot.

We spent time with Urbik at the combine, and Lang is just a guy that will take some time, like many that later rounds will produce. Nicks and Byrd are excellent picks and also Veikune is as good as any of the later round DE propects.

My fantasy draft would definately involve adding a couple of high choices on OL. Here's what I'd like to see...

Trade to the bottom of the 1st round if a stud OT is not availible and pick up an extra 2nd rounder. Not realistic, but here goes:

1st - Beatty OT

2nd - Robiske / Britt WR

2nd - Freeman QB

3rd - Louis Delmas FS

3-4(comp) Louis Vasquez OG

4th - Phillip Hunt DE

5th - Corey Irvin DT

6th - Ryan Stamper OLB

7th - Tony Fiametta FB
