Guest TerraTor
After finally being able to sleep thru the night this week, I have come to a conclusion that we are in for a total ass raping this week. It more than likely wont be on the scoreboard because the Steelers just dont put up points like that, but if we looked that bad against a team running a defense for the 1st time, Pitt should make it worse. Just a few remarks Losing Clark is really going to hurt in my opinion as well, Davis appears to be just about useless in the passing game. If they shut down the run, It may yet be another pick-a-palooza and this time the crowd may riot. The Oline looked miserable on the inside. Omiyale is a total wash, maybe thats why he never started before? hmm. And Im only assuming J. Harrison will anilate either williams or pace, especially Pace with his trouble against the short guys. I dont really fear anyone on the Steelers' offense. But without Urlacher i just dont see us stopping anything. Two years of draft picks with Urlacher being digned up since the SB Season and there isnt one Linebacker remaining from them.... This will get torn apart, but if Cutler does anything resembling last week's chaotic display, this season is over. Cuz 1, well never beat Minnesota and 2, well be 0-2 behind GB and MN 2-0... i wouldnt be shocked to see Detroit beat us.

103 mph screwball
Even if Cutler throws 6 INT's vs. Pitt, it would be a bad idea to boo. Not saying fans don't have the right, it would just be counterproductive. It's not like Rex. Cutler will be the future of the franchise. Supporting him would be a good idea if you want the Bears to win. I feel Cutler and the Bears will do well Sunday and there will be no need for boos. Just in case though, this is not a Rex/ Orton situation and I'll be pissed if he gets booed.

Ya, but if this guy wants to be the face of the franchise, hes gotta rise above especially this week with the shitty news of Urlacher. Also, the bears didnt mortgage the farm on Grossman or Orton. Hes gotta lead the team now, doesnt have to be stat wise but you know what I mean.. ps.. Cool ID by the way

It was one game and if we happen to lose to the Defending Superbowl champs the season is long from over. It sucks losing Urlacher but the D as a unit still played GB tough after Urlacher left the game. Let's give these young WR and Cutler some time to gel. All will be fine. Also we didnt give up 2 1st round picks just to win this year, it was done to have a solid qb for the next 10 years.
jason
Losing Clark is really going to hurt in my opinion as well, Davis appears to be just about useless in the passing game. How is losing Clark going to hurt? He is the #2 TE who is primarily relied upon for blocking. The big boy coming in should replace him just fine. If they shut down the run, It may yet be another pick-a-palooza and this time the crowd may riot. Disagreed. The team talked about the miscommunication issues last week, and the Steelers are without Polamalu. This could just as easily turn into a game where Cutler shreds their secondary. The Oline looked miserable on the inside. Omiyale is a total wash, maybe thats why he never started before? hmm. And Im only assuming J. Harrison will anilate either williams or pace, especially Pace with his trouble against the short guys. Unfortunately, this is accurate. I dont really fear anyone on the Steelers' offense. But without Urlacher i just dont see us stopping anything. Two years of draft picks with Urlacher being digned up since the SB Season and there isnt one Linebacker remaining from them.... One, LB is probably the easiest position in football to fill, with the possible exception of RB. Two, there were other, more pressing needs, in each of those drafts that made drafting a LB a luxury, and not a need. This will get torn apart, but if Cutler does anything resembling last week's chaotic display, this season is over. Cuz 1, well never beat Minnesota and 2, well be 0-2 behind GB and MN 2-0... i wouldnt be shocked to see Detroit beat us. As has already been mentioned, you sound like one of the Chicago journalist guys Morrissey or Marrioti, neither of which seem to be all that aware of the intricacies of the Bears, knowledgeable about football, or capable of finding a positive thing to write about heaven, let alone Chicago. ChileBear
Well said on all accounts jason. We are only one game into the season, it is way too early to throw this team under the bus. And win at home against the reigning champs and we will have a much different outlook all the way around.
adam
I wouldn't call what we gave up mortgaging the farm. That would be something like what Minnesota did for Walker or New Orleans did for Williams. If you look at the schedule, PIT was already one of the possible losses, and so was @ GB to be honest. I was figuring we would split vs MIN and GB, and win 2 against DET going 4-2 in the Division. For the other 10 games, 6-4 was a pretty reasonable assessment. That would be a 10-6 season with losses to GB, MIN, PIT, ATL, PHI, BAL.

Great point, most of us agreed that we have a good team but how many honestly believed that we will win the superbowl for the next 10 years just because we get Cutler. 1 person doesn't make your team a superbowl champion. It takes the combination of 22+ players to do so.

Cool ID by the way TT if a team trades for a player and makes him the face of the franchise then its on them to surround him with the necessary tools to succeed. I usually avoid your post because IMO they tend to be a little insightful and not based on stats or facts. madlithuanian
I hear ya. However, like it or not, Cutler is now the face of the franchise, right or wrong. If Smith were the face, science will have discovered the cure for insomnia. (Sorry, couldn't resist...) bowlingtwig
Quite logical... I also look at the Seattle game in week 3. Beating Seattle in Seattle isn't easy and we shouldn't look at the game as such an easy win. Playing in Seattle is tough because of there fans. Good thing this year though is that we have Cutler and he showed us during the GB game that he has the ability to put things in the past. Throwing 3 picks in the 1st half is extremely bad however he came out in the 3rd period and had a perfect 158.3 QB rating in the 3rd and had a good 4th quarter while giving us the lead with 2 minutes to go. madlithuanian
I fully agree. SEA at SEA won't be remotely easy. Although, I feel easier than GB at GB. I've still got kool-aid in the pitcher. We showed resiliancy last week at worst. Now, we just need to put a full game out there. I also look at the Seattle game in week 3. Ed Hochuli 3:16
I really hope JC has a huge game so all of these Cutler and Bears critics can just shut the f*** up. He showed me his competitiveness and his leadership in the 2nd half against Green Bay. I hope, and I think, he can carry that momentum into this Sunday.
