selection7
"Bears DE Adewale Ogunleye, $7,500 for unnecessary roughness (a horse-collar tackle against the Lions) " ...from NFL.com Was this the same play that most others reported was a bogus facemask penalty, meaning the NFL not only didn't think it was bogus, but they fined him for it? (the game wasn't televised so I just listened to it on the net radio).
WheresMyronBaker
Nope. The phantom facemask was called on Alex Brown (which was a totally clean tackle).
selection7
ah, ok, makes sense, but it still looks like Rashied was fined for his "crackback" and Tom Thayer specifically mentioned that it looked legal to him.
Ed Hochuli 3:16
Kevin Smith was also fined for his facemask, as well as some other CB from Detroit.

And I agree with Thayer that hit started high just like the one Cutler was flagged for. Seems after Favre injured a guy with a real crack back they have been over anxious to flag guys for crackbacks. And yes the bogus face mask was AB and it was a clean tackle that gave the Lions their second fresh set of downs after we forced a FG attempt. All Whale got was jersy and never got near his neck. There's a reason it wasn't called horscollar on the field and that's because it wasn't. If Stafford hadn'd been injured on the play it would have never drew a fine. The play in question
