Score (Haugh) reporting Marinelli not the DC

Could be interesting.

If what you hinting at is true, all might not be lost on coordinators.

A DC and OC that clash with Smith could prove Smith final undoing, and position one of them into the HC slot... That would actually be more bear-like than getting Cowher.

I'm ok with this. I like what they are doing. If they weren't going to oust Lovie, go high profile on some coaches. If you hire a high profile OC, than you at least can tell him he'd likely survive a potential firing.

and then it's deja' vu all over again. no substance just smoke and mirrors.

Just heard on the score that Marinelli turned the DC position down......

interesting.....

hmmmm a coach that has done nothing except broke records in detroit for losing. a coach who came here and i certainly don't see any drastic results and he refuses to move into a position he has never had before.

if true just how bad will their second choice be? LOL

I find it weird that he would turn down a promotion....

Maybe not true, who knows anymore

seriously. maybe he doesn't want to end his nfl career by tying his can to lovie's falling star. if he moved up and lovie fails again he goes down further in the nfl hierarchy and maybe has a hard time finding any work for a while.

in any case he must not have much if any faith in lovie pulling out of this flat spin.

You could be right on that one. Good thoughts.

Just to throw out there, but Marinelli talked in the past about how unhappy he was as a HC. How it was so much more demanding and nerve racking than he realized, and how happy he was to be back to his old DL job. Now, I realize that may be typical talk for anyone demoted, but after going coaching the 0-16 Lions, you can bet life was pretty miserable. He may just enjoy being back to the job that he knows well, is very comfortable with, and is held in high regard. If he took the DC job, he would again be under the microscope, and may simply still not be ready for it.

Good point.

And maybe that alone should give the guy some credit. Albeit, I still don't think he did much.
