bowlingtwig
Hub was on the score just a little bit ago and he saying that the Bears have already reached an agreement with Martz but "they are soooo afraid of what Cutler will think" and that is the reason he hasn't been hired yet. I will also no longer listen to what Martz says. He also went on to say how much of a baby that Cutler is and everything but then just a minute later he said that you never really saw that during the season. I think he is getting his information for not so realiable sources. He tried to say that he heard that Cutler was such a big baby and everything in Denver all the time but I think that is funny because you never really heard much from him until after the fiasco with McDaniels trying to trade him as soon as he was hired. DABEARSDABOMB
I don't buy into it and I think its a bunch of bullshit. The guy was tough as nails on the field. Took hit after hit and got back up and tried his ass off. If anyone thinks he doesn't care, they are freakin nuts.
madlithuanian
We know he's physically tough. I think the question still unanswered is he mentally tough? Only time will tell, and I sure hope he is! I don't buy into it and I think its a bunch of bullshit. The guy was tough as nails on the field. Took hit after hit and got back up and tried his ass off. Only time will tell, and I sure hope he is! I find it pretty hillarious how he was able to work and develop under one of the best offensive minds of all time and one of the best coaches of all time (Shanny). Never was a word said about him being a baby or anything. In fact, SHanny absolutely loved him as did all of the people who worked with him in Denver prior to McDeutche. THan all of a sudden he turns into a baby. I flat out don't buy it and I'm so sick and tired of hearing it. The media needs to do its homework instead of spout out ridiculous, unfounded shit. nfoligno
Devils advocate You said he was in a great situation (coaches) in Denver, and we didn't really hear much about his being a baby or whatever, but when would you? When does a baby cry? When they don't get their way. If he was in a good situation, liked and agreed w/ what was happening, then it was likely to happily go along with it. On the other hand, if he is not happy, maybe thus begins the baby discussions. IMHO it has FAR more to do w/ the way he acts than any actual attitude. I have heard Aikman and many others talk about it. Frankly, it is stupid to believe he simply doesn't care. If he didn't care, I think we would have seen him throwing the ball out of bounds rather than sitting in the pocket and taking so many hits. He cares, but when he is in front on the camera, he doesn't relfect that very well, and thus the media gets on him. As for the rest, I really think it gets pretty over-blown. How does what he did compare to a rookie telling a team not to take him. Didn't a couple QBs do that, including Elway and Manning. He didn't seem to care for the playcalling, but did he air the dirty laundry, so to speak? Often you hear QBs flat out call out the coaches. He may not have had a great relationship w/ the coaches, but I don't recall him calling them out. IMHO, the combination of bad body language w/ gets interpreted as not caring, combined w/ the manner in which he departed Denver has created a bad image. Frankly, the best way to change that image is to win. Once that happens, I don't think we will hear many talk about him being a baby or whatever. I find it pretty hillarious how he was able to work and develop under one of the best offensive minds of all time and one of the best coaches of all time (Shanny). madlithuanian
I think you're getting too caught up in the "baby"/"whiner" BS many are spewing. The crux, and only real knock on the guy is the question of whether he is a winner. That is a legitimate question. He's not won any "big games", been to the playoffs, or had a previous history of being a "winner". He's put up superb numbers. He's shown amazing ability and skills. However, there does seem to be some doubt on his decision making and attitude. Right now, it's too early to tell. But those questions will linger if things don't turn around. I don't want just a stat guy. I want a guy that wins, and leads. We've not had that since Jimmy Mac. I hope we have it now. Didn't we beat the Vikings at the end of the season in a hugely important game for them, likely one that kept them from the Superbowl? I realize everyone can say well there wasn't pressure to win but I like to see a guy who competes down to the wire even when the game means nothing and the other team has everything to play for. The offense got a big lead and then watched the defense lose it yet Cutler kept on plugging. When I think of whiners they don't show up in games like this because it's just not worth it. I didn't see that from Cutler on the field.

Even more halarious are the poser Bronco fans who adored Jay until the pre trade fiasco which then he some how was a baby! Living in Denver there are many who are just besides themselve on what the Heck happened to their darling franchise. Erv Brown and Joe Williams have a local sports talk radio show on espn here and they both think the trade was one of the biggest mistake the Broncos have made and don't get them started with what transpired with the Nolan / McDaniels issue. Meanwhile I am still in disbelief that the Bears pulled of this trade. Cutler is the real deal and played much better down the stretch and gives me much optimsim. There is no doubt that this guy is tough mentally. Yes he had a very bad 1st season with the Bears in terms of turnovers but how many times did he walk off the field after a pick discussing what happened with one of his young inexperienced recievers (many times!). I believe the Bears can turn this around sooner than many think!

If the Oline figures out how to block well this offense will be extremely dangerous and tough to win. However on Defense there are many ???'s in regards to the dline and secondary. I like our LB corp as we proved last year that we have depth. This is also assuming that we are able to resign Pisa.
madlithuanian
Nope. The Vikings game against New Orleans was far more important for them. They were on cruise control and we finally played with nothing to lose...and almost did lose. A divisional upset isn't as big of an upset as you would believe. Again, you're confusing whiner w/ winner. Winners win games they need to. That was a game we really didn't need to win. It' had no playoff implication. It was a lovely nice win. I cherish any game we beat Favre. But to say that's proof that Cutler is a winner is a bit of a stretch. The question is still out there yet unanswered. BigDaddy
Jay Cutler has proven to be a good QB. A pro bowl QB in fact. For him to be a winner takes a compliment of competent WRs, a RB, an o line that can actually pass block and run black, a coaching staff who knows how to evaluate and develop talent, a GM who knows how to draft on day 1, on OC who is able to make adjustments IN-GAME. That's all. Nope. The Vikings game against New Orleans was far more important for them. They were on cruise control and we finally played with nothing to lose...and almost did lose.
