Boldin Traded to Baltimore

We have to remember if we made that deal, we would not have a draft pick until the 5th round. You just can't do that. I also think the Bears are saving there available resources for safety. The Rams safety would cost a lot and the Steelers safety won't come cheap either.

And those are just flat out bigger need positions.

Wow, must have been a money issue for us because that nothing for Boldin trade wise. The 7ish million per year isnt bad either.

Cards traded Boldin and a 5th rounder for a 3rd and 4th rounder from Bmore. I guarantee if the Bears had draft picks they might have tried to do this.

But as of now, I think they know that they had bigger fish to fry.

IMO, it comes down to what is our #1 and #2 priority.

Obviously our #1 priority was getting to the damn QB. Done.

Goal #2 was improving our blocking scheme when the QB drops back deep. We did that.

WR was not a top priority. If we don't do another damn thing in FA I'll still be happy.

I'm not upset at all that we passed on Boldin. What I would like to point out is how cheap he went (no first round pick here!) and that tells you what teams around the league felt his value was and it was nowhere near what his value was on this message board. Baltimore will get a few good years out of him for sure and his contract extension was not as high as I expected he'd demand. It seems even Anquan came down to earth on his true value.

I agree with Bradjock that we did more to improve our team today than we could have if we'd have made the same deal for Boldin and we still have time/opportunity to fix the FS position which has more value than putting Knox or Aromashodu on the bench.

I disagree, I think WR is a huge priority for us. Not as much as OL now but definitely next on the list. Especially if we lose Olsen. If we trade Olsen than it would be basically getting Boldin for a 4th rounder assuming Olsen would get us a third, which he would at minimum.

Hub Arkush was on the score yesterday and I found his comments to be idiotic. He felt that the Bears would have been better making that same deal for Boldin INSTEAD of costing our future with the deals that we made. The last time I checked Cutler throw for over 3600 yards last year with the same WR's we have now and what cost us on offense wasn't so much the WR's. According to Jaws 95% of the INT's were Cutlers fault and no one else's. Hub also went on to say that if we were LUCKY we MIGHT get a low 4th rounder for Olsen. LMAO. Seems like he still hates us.

Yeah, I mean, even if he's still able to produce at a high level right now, his age and injuries hurt his value. How many seasons can he have left in him? You just don't give up a 2nd or a 1st for only two or three years of production. I think the deal makes a fair amount of sense for both sides: Arizona gets fair compensation, and Baltimore gets an immediate (if short-term) fix at receiver, which frees them up to draft and develop some guys.
