Pixote
From Bears' Twitter: #Bears have placed RB Harvey Unga on injured reserve with a pulled hamstring. Looks like a "redshirt" season for him.
nfoligno
Yup. I mean, even if the pulled hammy is bad, it is far from season ending, so this has red shirt all over it. AZ54
It's a positive IMO because making the decision this early means the coaches decided they will be happy with either Wolfe or Bell, whichever wins the competition.
bradjock
All right, where's those who said the Bears don't or can't "Red-Shirt" players? (LT?) My first reaction was, "How bad is he that they need his spot on the 85 man roster?" My 2nd reaction: Nice move. He was obviously out of shape which is why he fell to the Bears in the 7th. This gives him a year to learn the system, learn to block, and get it together. Those who say, "Why would he take the red-shirt?" First, who wants him? Second, hell, he'll make the rookie minimum, which is approaching $400,000 . So for a year he gets to work out, learn the system, hang with the team, and make far more money in a fiscal year then I ever will. Nice. lemonej
This is not a surprise since he did appear to be out of shape and was an undergrad forced out of BYU for rules violations(Premarital sex). This upcoming season would have been his senior season where he could have been able to add to his All-time leading rusher stats at BYU. This is good for him and he gets to make a nice amount of money in the process to help support his young child.

All I said was that there has to be an actual injury - and there was. I think it's a good move. I think that for him to make the roster, he was going to have to learn to play H-back and I'm not sure he could do that by the 53 man roster cut down with the injury slowing him up. Also, btw, it's only an 80 man roster for TC. There are no more WFL exemptions.
