Guest TerraTor
http://theredzone.org/BlogDescription/tabi...in/Default.aspx Reebok out, Nike in Oct 12 10/12/2010 1:50:21 PM | More Sean Leahy ofUSA Today reports that Reebok will be relinquishing its rights as the NFL's uniform provider in a new licensing apparel deal announcing by the league on Tuesday. Nike will produce all NFL uniforms and on-field apparel beginning in 2012. "We have spent considerable time the past few years rigorously evaluating our apparel business," Eric Grubman, the NFL's executive vice president of NFL ventures and business operations, said in a statement. "The new framework will provide fans with a wider breadth of merchandise from global category leaders in the sports-licensed apparel industry." Among the other apparel providers the NFL announced on Tuesday: New Era will supply headgear for on-field personnel and fans. Under Armour will outfit the scouting combine and continue as its presenting sponsor. Gill and VF remain as outfitters for fan gear, with the former concentrating on men's and women's lifestyle collections and the latter on t-shirts and fleeces. Outerstuff remains as the provider of youth apparel. '47 Brand will produce fans' headgear. The NFL also held open the possibility that it may award "niche licenses" in the future. In a statement to CNBC, Reebok stated, "We have enjoyed a long and very successful NFL partnership. Over the last decade, we have revolutionized and modernized the sports licensing business, introducing new fan categories, retail formats and new uniform technologies, en route to more than doubling the size of the NFL's former licensed sales. We are extremely proud of what we have been able to accomplish together." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank God Nike is back. madlithuanian
Agreed, Reebok was bad. I hope Nike comes up with a damn dri-fit/clima-cool jersey! Those things get warm if the weather is hot! http://theredzone.org/BlogDescription/tabi...in/Default.aspx Reebok out, Nike in Oct 12 10/12/2010 1:50:21 PM | More Sean Leahy ofUSA Today reports that Reebok will be relinquishing its rights as the NFL's uniform provider in a new licensing apparel deal announcing by the league on Tuesday. defiantgiant
I hope they don't try to pull any ridiculous styling changes like they did with Oregon's jerseys. Might work for a newer franchise like the Panthers or Jaguars, but I'd rather not see the NFC North's uniform designs "updated" - they're just fine the way they are. If they wanted to rework some of the technology, though, that'd be pretty cool, especially considering all the problems with players getting heatstroke the past several years. madlithuanian
NFl doesn't like change...I wouldn't worry. My biggest concern is lame advertisements like in soccer... Seems an obvious thing that the NFL should move to a clima-cool/dri-fit product... I hope they don't try to pull any ridiculous styling changes like they did with Oregon's jerseys. Guest TerraTor
Teams authorize changes I would imagine. Anyway, i wanna see some sweatshirts like those in NCAA. Cool designs, no stupid cuffs, or stripes. Or repeating the teamname/logo 5 times on the shirt.
Ed Hochuli 3:16
I doubt the Bears, Steelers, Packers- all the classic team jerseys- get changed in the next 10 years, whether Reebok or Nike is in charge. Like someone said, it might work for some teams, but not teams with great jerseys.
xvflutop
My biggest concern is lame advertisements like in soccer... I hope their football gear is better made than their soccer gear. In college we had an addidas sponsorship, and the girls team had Nike. Every year Nike had to come in and provide new cleats about halfway through the season because they simply fell apart. When they asked the men's team if we wanted to switch we told them to get lost. I was issued a pair of Nike goalkeeper gloves one of my seasons there, and I had to get the team to buy me a new pair after 6 games. Conversely I get about 30-40 games use out of my addidas gloves, and i still use my addidas cleats that I got in 2001.
Chitownhustla
Hopefully they make a real Authentic Jersey. I bought a Urlacher authentic about 4 or 5 years ago. I went to the store to pick up a Peppers Authentic and it is nowhere near the same quality as the Urlacher one. The material is way thinner and just no where near as nice. I was surprised they started making it cheaper but kept the same price.

The Reebok hats are just crap - the only Bears hat I own is one of the throwback Mitchell & Ness ones. It'd be cool to see the regular hats look as good as the New Era MLB caps.
