Ed Hochuli 3:16
Sign Logan Mankins: 5 years (6 years as an option), $37.5m. Trade Tommie Harris to the Giants for their 4th. Cut Shaffer, Garza, and Clark. Trade 4th round pick, a 2nd round pick, and a 6th next year to Indianapolis for their 1st. 1. Joseph Barksdale, OT, LSU ---I'm sticking with this pick. He might be the best OT in the draft class, he could play LT or RT, and I'm sick of Omiyale, Williams, and Webb playing OT. 1. Jerrell Powe, NT, Mississippi ---None of Chicago's DT's are worth writing home about. Time to select a true nose-tackle. 3. Kristofer O'Dowd, C, USC ---He might not play in 2011, but in 2012, they should let Kreutz go. 4. Jon Moffitt, G, Wisconsin ---Why stop at Mankins? Moffitt is a mauler and impressed me vs Ohio State. 5. Ryan Winterswyk, DE, Boise State ---DL depth, along Idonije has been better than I expected. 6. Greg Little, WR, North Carolina ---He's a big guy and with Hester being used sparingly at WR, another WR this late can't hurt. 7. Stanley Havili, FB, USC ---A very versatile FB, and although FB's aren't needed in Martz's system, he can play special teams. And plus, who knows how much long Martz will be around? I like the draft except for the bolded part. If the Bears pick a WR in the draft this year, it will be completely ignorant. It's perhaps the least needed position on the team right now. But, to be quite honest, if the trade DID go down, and the Bears DID get two first rounders, I would want two first round offensive linemen. OT and OG would be nice. madlithuanian
Sorry, it's just too early for me to start thinking draft... The only draft I'm thining of at this time of year is beer. jason
There is never anything ignorant about going for best talent available/hoping for random luck in the 6th round. I doubt that at that point there will be a CLEAR CUT, guaranteed, best talent available. Therefore, picking up a guy who is guaranteed to get cut is, in fact, ignorant. The OL, DL, and Safety shelves are nearly the same as at Old Mother Hubbard's house, and you guys want to keep stocking the shelves at Food Lion. Ed Hochuli 3:16
I want an olineman picked in every round....every free picked up, I want a olineman..... Over reacting much? Rodney hudson is the best interior olineman in the draft.....do whatever it takes, but the bears need him I haven't seen him in any 3 round mocks, so.. So if we draft a DE, DT, FS, SS, OG, C, or OT in round 6, they'll make the team for sure?
jason
So if we draft a DE, DT, FS, SS, OG, C, or OT in round 6, they'll make the team for sure? You're smart enough to interpret what I actually meant. Please spare the baiting. You know as well as I do that WR is a very low priority for this team because of their strength, depth, and financial investment at that position. Because of those factors, and possibly others, a WR drafted in the later rounds is nearly guaranteed to be cut. Therefore, the pick would not be a smart one. Given that the Bears: 1-Can't create a pass rush 2-Can't block anyone 3-Can't seem to stop opponents from passing successfully Due to the above, and the abject play at those positions, the odds are much better that a player drafted at one of the positions you mentioned would have a shot at making the team, and possibly contributing. Connorbear
O-line, D-line, and DBs are priority. We have Iglacias on the practice squad. Do not draft a WR. Peace

But really, strength at WR? Like who? Bennett is alright, Knox is good, Aromashodu is up-in-the-air, and Hester, before we know it, will be full time on PR. Plus, it's not like we have a lot locked up in our WR's. Besides Hester, who else do we have a lot tied into? I can't remember the last 6th round pick the Bears made that has had an impact, whether it be WR, FS, DE, or OL anyways. O-line, D-line, and DBs are priority. We have Iglacias on the practice squad. Do not draft a WR. Peace Iglesias? Please. He couldn't catch a cold.

He couldn't catch a cold. I'm content with Knox, Bennett, Aroma, and Hester. That's a very fast, very explosive group. And Bennett has some of the best hands in the league. I also think you're selling Iglesias short. The simple fact is, if the 6th rounder is a gamble (which it is), the gamble is better placed in a position of need. It's just common sense.
