rockren
You're right. The difference in this game is one mental mistake by the Bears' secondary. Otherwise it's pretty even and the Bears probably have the overall edge. I didn't even think it was that mental....other than Henderson easily running by Wright without much trouble. azbearsfan
Problem with Martz is...if the WR's aren't getting open and the OL isn't performing well, then those reflect on the OC. The WR's getting open quick is a system issue...if that looks like an issue, esp. against a blitzing D like New Orleans...that's something you should have prepared for during the week. The OL breaking down...that's draw play, screen play, and quick slant/quick out time. Get a few of those and force the defense to loosen up. Exactly, there was no surprise to what the NO defense was going to do.
azbearsfan
I don't love him nearly as much as you hate him. You rail on the dude when it's VERY apparent that there isn't a thing he could do to help the offense. At a certain point you have to realize that A] There isn't a single WR on the team getting open, and B] The OL isn't performing very well since Cutler has been under pressure the entire game. And when the OL DOES hold up, which isn't often, see A. The big difference between Martz and Turner, other than the disparity with which I ripped him and you rip Martz (I didn't rip him nearly as much as you rip Martz) is that Martz puts in plays that would confuse and surprise the opponents' defense if the Bears' players held up their end of the bargain, while Turner put in plays that surprised absolutely no one, could be called pre-snap by the average fan, and demanded perfect execution from the offense in order for success. The former can succeed when the Bears' O doesn't perform perfectly because there may be defensive confusion; the latter can't. lol, ok bro. You are flat out lying, but thats just you. You ripped Turner twice as much as I rip Martz because some of the time I give Martz his credit, like last week. Today, I merely said that he needs to get the offense going which is his job. Then you want to turn it into big message board drama. I certainly hope he can get the offense rolling as then we will win.
azbearsfan
Hopefully the defense can hold if all we going to get are field goals.
balta1701-A
Hopefully the defense can hold if all we going to get are field goals. There's no hope about it. The Saints will get a few more points, but the Defense will keep the Bears in this.

Screen play = Tried to call, but the D pressured Cutler and blew up the blocking set up for the screen. Quick slant = Got Bennett injured. I agree he should change things up, particularly there should be more running in situations like this. But to pretend like he can do much about how shitty the WRs and OL is playing is just nonsense. jason
Exactly, there was no surprise to what the NO defense was going to do. There is no surprise what ANY defense is going to do against the Bears!! You have to be dense not to realize this. They're going to blitz, send extra guys, pressure, drill Cutler. That is the plan for every freaking team in the NFL when they play the Bears. And nothing on O can be done, other than running (which I want more of), if the blocking is not there or the WRs are getting open. The entire first half, other than a few plays, was Cutler being pressured and/or Cutler utilizing mobility to stretch out a play while waiting for a WR to get a step. Believe what you want about the Turner/Martz thing. You rip Martz every week, multiple times per week, and multiple times per game thread. The only reason you'll change at this point is because I've called you on it. I didn't rip Turner that often, regardless of how often I ripped him. jason
Johnny Knox = Still quitting on routes. One bad, one good. Unfortunately, the bad sets up perfect INT opportunities for the D. BTW - Third QTR with a 10 point deficit is not the time to totally abandon the run, regardless how horrible the blocks are.
Bears4Ever_34
All New Orleans is doing is blitzing and leaving guys wide open. I just don't get why Martz continues to insist on calling 7 step drops and forgetting about screens. It doesn't make sense.
Bears4Ever_34
Meanwhile our defensive line is getting absolutely no pressure on Brees at all. Brees with all day to throw = GG

This is only game two and you have probably already called out Martz at least ten times, if not more. I ripped Martz early last week and you ripped him at least three times during the game thread. You can't straddle both sides of the fence, and then act like you were high-fiving Martz the entire game.

Martz has to stop with the long drop backs because it's killing Cutler's ability to get rid of the ball quickly to the guys running crossing routes. BearFan2000
can't do much of anything on offense, can't stop them on D... could be game over. Game over... TD sproles.
