Decent WR FA Crop

ASHKUM BEAR

Recommended Posts

I think the Bears may make a splash this offseason by bringing in a big time WR. The Roy Williams experiment isn't quite working out as they had hoped. Jay tried early to build that relationship, but the lack of heart and hands limits Roy. There's a nice list below of some great targets for the Bears if they don't resign with their team. It's not that the Bears don't have decent WR's, they have a nice group of #2's or #3's. They need that big target Jay can throw it up to when the pressure's coming. Then they can concentrate on spending draft picks on OL and D. :dabears

It's like a Christmas list of WR's!

VJ, Colston, or Wayne would be great. I don't mind Bowe either. Welker doesn't strike me as the kind of player we need. But, I won't balk. I don't like Stevie Johnson. He hasn't shown he can really be a #1 and relied on.

If Martz is back, I can see Eddie Royal. He has a comfort level with Cutler and he's a smaller guy, which is needed given how quick guys have to be out of their breaks in this offense.

If not, I could see Reggie Wayne. He's an older guy, and those older guys who were great are guys JA takes fliers on.

Obviously, we'd all love VJ but I highly doubt it.

I'd start with Bennett, but would love to see VJ or Bowe. I would also re-sign Roy on the cheap with the condition he show up in shape. Lastly Garcon would be a nice addition, as he is the fastest reciever on the Colts and is physical at the line of scrimmage. Hester should then be relegated to full time return specialist.

I'd like to see a VJ or DB myself. Until we have a complete Oline with one or two all pros, we need that big go to guy. I was hoping Roy would fill that void, even though he's starting improve. Too little too late, he just doesn't care to be great.

I'm glad we have Bennett locked up now for four years, he's our #1 for now.

If the Bears go after any of these lower-cost veteran guys, which woudln't be a bad move...I would really like to see them invest a first round pick there still

Vincent Jackson is the guy I'd want if I had the choice. He's a big target, likes to use the deep routes, and has excellent "Go up and catch it" ability. Marcus Colston is another guy that would fit in here quite well. He's not a burner but he's a solid, reliable pass catcher that can do just about anything on the field. However, he's not leaving New Orleans any time soon I don't think. D Jax would want more money than he deserves, I doubt the Bears will be in the running for a guy like him. Our best bet is using our first round pick on a WR because all of those elite guys are probably either going to be resigned by their teams or franchised.

If Martz stays: Wes Welker or Steve Johnson would be great. Both lightning fast out of breaks and have good hands. They'd explode in this offense.

If Martz goes: It depends on the OC and offense installed, but I've always been a fan of Plaxico's ability. He'd come cheaper than the others.
