Stinger226
Not sure about Adams. He sounds like a Webb clone. From what I'm reading, it's going to take him a season or so to develop. I'm leaning toward the young WR, with the condition we take one in FA. Would love if we had Bowe and Floyd. We all have opinions, and all we can do is read other peoples comments. There will only be a handful of rookies that will have an impact next year, emery needs to figure that out, hopefully he can . We know our needs , we just don't know who those impact players are, so we play fantasy football with our team, and I just love this time of the year. I'm leaning toward the young WR, with the condition we take one in FA. Would love if we had Bowe and Floyd. Except Webb never sniffed the first round. The only true comparison is in measurables. If Webb were coming out this year we would be reading something like this (minor changes to CBS read about Adams): Pass blocking: Tall, long, questionable pass protector. Generally gets out of three-point stance slowly, stiffly, but with a wide base. Improving his ability in nearly every way, particularly to use his hands to redirect rushers and late blitzers away from the pocket, but mostly because starting at the bottom floor only allows for upward movement. Power rushers probably draw even on most battles, sloppy anchor in close quarters, like his fingers are caught in one of those Chinese finger traps. Stops his size 22 feet after initial contact at times, moves them like his shoes are cemented down, instead relying on length but allowing defender to get the corner or spin inside. Especially the corner. Prone to false start and hold when under stress. Run blocking: Solid but inconsistent positional run blocker who flashes some nastiness. Attacks his man when necessary, though he won't consistently dominate him and will lose his balance by overextending. Molasses feet, can get inside of tackle (when the tackle chooses an outside rush) to wall off inside and nearly never reaches linebackers at the second level adeptly. Nice punch which he uses to knock down smaller defenders with one extension. Like a school yard bully, battles against smaller opponents are the only battles won. Height a detriment in short-yardage plays, defender can get under his pads to hold the line. Flashes the ability to move his man with his hands, but is not yet consistent in this area. If Webb were coming out this year we would be reading something like this (minor changes to CBS read about Adams): I didn't say Adams isn't a better talent than Webb. The first round pick is about getting a future Pro Bowl player, ideally at a position of need, and as it appears right now Floyd has a much better chance of doing that than Adams, especially when considering our need is at LT not RT. Some paraphrased comments I've seen from our new GM: It's a big mans game. Wants playmakers, guys who dominate their opponent. Focus on football smarts not just smart players. I don't see him using the old floor vs. ceiling analogy JA followed. JA seemed to be more concerned with the floor than the ceiling anyway, or at least he was better at finding the floor players. Emery has stated playmakers multiple times in several interviews and players who can dominate their opponent. It's too early to tell but it sounds like we're headed into more of a smash mouth style team.

I agree with most of your post, but I was just pointing out that the "sounds like Webb" talk is way off base. There are very few things that Webb and Martin have in common other than size. Webb may be a bigger man by 2 inches and 30 pounds, but this is equally about the "dog in the fight" and the "fight in the dog." If it's down to Floyd and Martin, for me it ultimately comes down to whether the Bears think Martin is a LT or RT. If he's LT material, then I'd pick him. If he's RT material, we already have one, and Floyd is the guy.
