adam
Picture of the hit, still looks brutal: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,7798460.story Per Rotoworld: Johnny Knox (back surgery) is wearing a restrictive back brace until mid-March. Knox tweeted a picture of the brace, which covers his entire torso. Asked if he anticipated being able to play in 2012, Knox responded that he was focusing on getting back to 100 percent first. He's highly questionable for training camp this summer. The brace: http://lockerz.com/s/180054663 I doubt he plays in 2012 or ever returns to form after something like that. Ouch, video: Asked how close he was to never being able to walk again, Knox replied, "If i tell u u wont be able to sleep."
Bears4Ever_34
I just pray he's able to get his quality of life back. If he comes back to football, I wish him well but I wouldn't expect much. Hits like that will have a lingering impact on him for a while I think. BearFan2000
I just pray he's able to get his quality of life back. If he comes back to football, I wish him well but I wouldn't expect much. Hits like that will have a lingering impact on him for a while I think. Exactly my thoughts. I didn't watch the seattle game and only heard about the injury and finally saw the clip and it made me cringe just seeing that. Knox is fortunate to not be paralyzed that wasn't a dirty hit but just being in in a bad spot at the wrong time. Whether he comes back to football or not is the minor thing compared to quality of life, first and foremost my thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family and that he gets well and and is able walk, run, and enjoy life like the rest of us. Football is just a game, his health is more important. But on the football side of it even if he's able to get back to where he can run and participate in non contact drills or conditioning or any of that. I would think it would be wise to not play in the 2012 season to let the body heal fully and properly and not to rush back to the football field. From his twitter it's clear he wants to return to football. My hope is that he doesn't try to come back too quickly. It takes a lot of time to fully recover from something like this and even then to expect to be the same as you were before is not likely. He should think of his health and his family first and then think about playing again.

madlithuanian
I said the exact same thing right after the injury. F football, just be able to walk and move... I just pray he's able to get his quality of life back. If he comes back to football, I wish him well but I wouldn't expect much. lemonej
Great job everyone on putting things in proper perspective. The only hit I can remember off the top of my head that was similar, from my own personal view is former packer CB Tim Lewis being injured on a hit with a helmet to helmet collision with Willie Gault. This happened on a Mon Nite game and he was strapped on a stretcher and taken off the field as well and never played again because doctors deemed it to be risky for him.He was diagnosed with something in his spine being not right and making him a high risk for a permanent neck or spine injury. I personally remember watching Knox at the Combine and running a blistering 40 time and was ecstatic the Bears got him in the 5th round. IMO he is a Cinderella story and now his glass slipper may be broken ending a feel good story. He is the poster child for level of competition critics.
