Wesson44
Sure we need WR'S for Cutler to throw to and guys that are 6'2 and above are a great need for our team. But I just noticed something about a team that we have lost to four out of the five games in the last two years...The Packers!!. Have you looked at their starting WR'S and how Tall they are???? Well here is a list of all of their WR and just how tall they are. Randall Cobb 5'11 Donald Driver 6'0 Starter Tori Gurley 6'4 Greg Jennings 5'11 Starter James Jones 6'1 Starter Jordy Nelson 6'3 Starter Shaky Smithson 5'11 And guess what...... Jennings, Jones and Driver killed us the most then throw in Nelson! So what I'm saying is height is not the only thing we need......we just need good WR'S that can catch because this shows me that we need to get at least two or three WR'S this year so we can match up for a shootout with the Packers. Now if we got 6'5 Jackson, 6'4 Floyd/Hill and maybe another one like Meeacham we could win these shoot outs. Because really ....all the games we lost we do so by not scoring enough points against a shoot out team like the Saints,Packers, Colts(well not anymore since #18 is gone) and all the other passing teams. Our D is getting old but still getting it done....but if we have the ability to blow out games and stay in games by passing, it will save our D alot of wear and tear...like didnt the Saints beat the Colts like 61-7 last year????. And the Packers Saints game was like 45-37 with the Saints missing a TD on the last drive to end the game? We need a shoot out offence
selection7
Trends in the NFL come and go. It's hard to not see height as having become overvalued when Wes Welker is outproducing Megatron...not too many years after Steve Smith consistently did the same. But balance is important so the other team can't simply play one defensive strategy on you. If all your receivers lack elusiveness, or if all your receivers lack height, you've probably got a problem. We don't have one WR that will still be on roster next year who's over 6' even. But if we get Jackson and Floyd/Hill we can change the balance like you say and have more options. Some of the passes Cutler threw last year to our short WR'S will maybe caught by tha taller ones if we get them. Meaning more drives extended more chances to score and a better threat in the red zone,...which equals more games being won.
AZ54
Yes, you need to be able to take advantage of what a defense gives you as well as forcing them to respect all possibilities. Wes Welker is a good WR but he's helped by having two good (and tall) receiving TEs who can work the middle of the field and a QB who can read defenses and get rid of the ball quickly.
