balta1701-A
Adam Schefter just said on ESPN that the Bears may be the favorite to land Mario Williams. Things are starting to heat up! I know nothing has broken yet but this definitely has the feel of the day the Bears made the Peppers/Taylor/Manumaleuseless signings. Everyone knows the Bears have cap room, everyone knows what their needs are, everyone knows if they make their moves they're a SB threat. Everyone knows the Bears have cap room, everyone knows what their needs are, everyone knows if they make their moves they're a SB threat. They still need to execute on those moves and than obviously execute in the draft and on the field! I'm trying to keep my expectations low so I don't get crushed. Even if the Bears miss out on both of these guys, there is a lot of good signings that can be made to improve this team.
Bears4Ever_34
Mario Williams - LB - Texans NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora suggests the Bears have a good chance to be the first team free agent DE Mario Williams visits, and "it might be the only team." DABEARSDABOMB
Reports out there that Mario will be visiting the Bills tonight. That will be the first team he meets with.
Bears4Ever_34
Kind of a buzz kill but hopefully we can still end up with Mario.
DABEARSDABOMB
I'd be fine with Wimbley or a solid DE plus a CB. The Marshall move puts the Bears in a real nice place, including the fact that they no longer have to go one way vs. another in the draft. Curious to see what happens. DABEARSDABOMB
Wimbley and Grubbs or Carr would be really nice. I doubt all of that happens but you never know.
Ed Hochuli 3:16
I doubt all of that happens but you never know. Wimbley and Grubbs at 6m/year is entirely possible, but alright.
Ed Hochuli 3:16
Michael Lombardi is reporting that Bills are the favorite right now for Mario and that the price might now be too high for the Bears. Bummer.
DABEARSDABOMB
Wimbley and Grubbs at 6m/year is entirely possible, but alright. Agree. I think Carr & Wimbley is more likely. I think the Bears will than focus on the line + LB in the draft. I could be wrong though. They still might look at wideout.

Bummer. Â I still really appreciate the Bears effort on this one.
Bears4Ever_34
As long as we have the cap space, the money shouldn't be an issue. Go get Mario Williams Phil!
DABEARSDABOMB
Sounds like the Bears are likely out on Williams. I figure we'll instead see them sign 2 good players to join Marshall. Â Also a lot of talk about the Texans clearing some more room and making a run to keep him.

Also a lot of talk about the Texans clearing some more room and making a run to keep him. If the Bears can somehow woo him after he visits Buffalo, I would love our chances. However, if we don't get him we will likely focus the attention on the backfield since the pass rush wouldn't be as threatening. Whats out there saftey and corner wise? We also need to look at upgrading our O-line ASAP!
