WheresMyronBaker
I'm getting to the point of wanting to see Forte traded.  http://www.kffl.com/gnews.php?id=776748-be...l-bush-addition  He's been an overall good guy, but doesnt seem to really understand how the NFL works. There has to be something close to a #1 we could get for him. (of course he would sign the tender to facilitate the deal)  How bout Tampa Bay? They have cash to give him. WheresMyronBaker
How about to the Pats for #27? They just cleared more cap space today, would be nice if the moves made by the Bears and the Pats were with this in mind.

If he signs the tender he will be guaranteed 7.7+ million.

Bears4Ever_34
Matt has been getting some bad advice from his agent throughout this whole process. Should have just signed the offer the Bears gave him before. Now he has no leverage.
DABEARSDABOMB
Right now Forte can't be traded because he is unsigned. This move was made to be insurance against a holdout by Matt and a possible replacement for Barber who doesn't seem to be a high football IQ player.Don't be shocked if they add a body in the draft also. The Bears spent a lot of money on insurance. Forte is pissed about it too. I think his time with the Bears might be done (depending on whether they can burn bridges). What good does it do the Bears to franchise Forte at this point. We aren't going to give him a big money deal (not when you have already guaranteed 7M to this back). A team isn't going to than guarantee another 15M to Forte. Â Best case for the Bears is he signs his tender this year and leaves next year (with the Bears agreeing they won't use the franchise on him). Another best case is you deal him for a 2nd rounder (no one would give up a 1st for him and to be honest, given the lack of importance placed on RB's, I don't even know if you get a 2nd for him). Forte has been nothing but a pro in the process and the Bears have now treated him like crap. I realize it is a business and I think Forte probably has gotten a reasonable offer he should have signed but now he is in a terrible spot as a result of not being the bad guy (e.g., not holding out). If I'm a player, I'd be very cognizant of what the Bears are doing and I'd think twice about taking their word at face value.  If we trade him, than thats fine. Guest TerraTor
The Chargers let LT go as did the Cowboys with Emmett Smith who was the NFL all time leading rusher. This is a business decision. Â Um they were both 30+ rbs at the time and washed up
dawhizz
I understand why he's upset, but Forte has to realize he's a RB on a franchise tag, coming off an injury, and that the previous back-up (Barber) was less than impressive and that the other back-up (Bell) was good, but remains unproven. How are the Bears treating him like crap? Good for them that they are being sensible with the situation and realizing that you shouldn't have to over pay for RB's in this league. The Bears offered him a fair contract. Look at what happened to the two best RB's in football that got paid last season. How did that turn out for Minnesota and Tennessee? These are the very reasons you never want to put all your stock in the most fragile position in football.

Bush isn't a starter for a reason   Dude, the league is changing. Look at the SB teams the last 10 years and tell me the stand out RB on each of them. I am happy either way but if we can get a 1st or 2nd for him and pick up another WR in the draft, address our need of DE and Oline I would be happy as well.  Michael Bush put up some great numbers last year for being a part time starter. Bears4Ever_34
. Bush isn't a starter for a reason He wasn't a starter because he was playing behind the #4 pick in the 2008 draft. He's not a superstar RB but he is more than capable of carrying the load for a team that needs him to. Did you not watch any Oakland Raiders football games last season? Good point. Lets take a look at the last decade of Superbowl winning RB's  2002 Patriots- Antowain Smith 2003 Buccaneers- Michael Pittman 2004 Patriots- Antowain Smith 2005 Patriots- Corey Dillon 2006 Steelers- Willie Parker 2007 Colts- Joseph Addai 2008 Giants- Brandon Jacobs 2009 Steelers- Willie Parker 2010 Saints- Pierre Thomas 2011 Packers- James Starks 2012 Giants- Ahmad Bradshaw  We seem to be establishing a trend here. I don't see a single RB from any of these teams that were Top 5 big money guys.
Ed Hochuli 3:16
I just wish Forte would shut up. How would anyone say he's been a "pro" throughout the whole process? A pro would've been him saying "I only want to play for the Bears. I hope my agent can get something done with them. I want to receive a fair deal and I want my deal to give the organization room to sign more players. I understand RB's have a short shelf life in this league." That would've been professional. Instead, he didn't accept a very reasonable deal offered, he's retweeting people on twitter weekly that say s*** like "PAY FORTE," and he's even going on radio and talk shows asking for a new deal. Those same people wanting an extension for Forte will be the ones who will be pissed at Emery 3 years into Forte's 6 year extension saying "Emery is a f***ing idiot. Why did he give a running back coming off an injury a 6 year extension who already had 4 years in the league? WTF. Now our cap situation is screwed." Get a grip on things, people. This Bush signing has more to do with Barber's future in Chicago than Forte's, anyway. Â If a team wants to give the Bears a 1st round pick for Forte, go for it, Emery. Â And BTW, f*** Greg Olsen. Stop tweeting about the Bears' issues. You're in Carolina now, a place where no one even knows professional football exists. How does that f***ing taste, loser? You were an overrated sack of garbage here and the Bears should feel lucky a team gave them a 3rd round pick for your lazy ass. If you want to comment on how a team handles their RB situation, talk to your own president, owner, and GM. Those guys were the same ones who recently signed Mike Tolbert a year after overpaying for DeAngelo Williams and a few years after drafting Jonathan Stewart, telling everyone who cares in Charlotte that either Stewart or Williams will be cut or traded soon. Athletic tight end my ass.
jason
I'm taking the middle ground here. Â Was it a slap in the face to Forte? Sure. Is Forte handling it incredibly badly? Absolutely. Would it have happened if Forte had signed the fair deal he was offered? Nope. Was it a wise business decision by the Bears? Maybe. Â Sure, they've hedged their bets on a Forte hold out, but now they've essentially said they're willing to go through the season with Bush as the #1 if Forte decides to hold out. But at the same time, they've told potential FAs that they play hardball with their own guys, and this could be something that dissuades other FAs from coming to the team. Â Â Â Â
selection7
According to Raider fans, Michael Bush's big drawback is pass protection. But I'm sure our outstanding Oline can pick up the slack for him. Being serious though...Other notable comments were that he is a suprisingly (for a big man) capable pass reciever but also has a bit of a needy ego. Â I didn't see anything particularly impressive on him when I youtubed him. We'll see, anyway.

Bush's deal is reportedly 14 Million for 4years with 7 guaranteed. The rest of the contract is 1.75 mil per year.If you prorate the bonus for the first 2 years thats 5.25 million a year more than 2 million less than what Forte is tagged for. Forte being pissed is about as important as you and me being pissed. The Bears have the ability to franchise him again next year so If he truly wants to leave sign the tender and ask for a trade.Don't do it threw the social media. More importantly is the Bears now don't have to do anything because he is franchised and they have Bush and Barber under contract. Don't get me wrong I believe Forte is the best Bears RB since Neal Anderson and would hate to see him go but,I've been a Bear fan longer than he has been living. adam
For their careers, both RB's (Forte and Bush) have the same YPG (4.2) and rushing TD's (21).
madlithuanian
Nice passion Brian!  Forte, this whole time, has simply said he's being professional. As you pointed out, his action speak otherwise. While certainly not horrific, he did fan the flames of the fire...  I do hope he contributes from day one of this season, but if not, it's good knowing we have some solid options at the position now.  If he holds out in camp, or doesn't report until week 10 or whatever the dumb rule is now (which...BTW, why didn't the new CBA cover that and say you have to report day one or it doesn't count?...but I digress)...then I've lost virtually all respect for the guy. Until then, he's a damn good RB that I expect to be a big contributor to our upcoming Super Bowl winning season.  I just wish Forte would shut up. How would anyone say he's been a "pro" throughout the whole process? A pro would've been him saying "I only want to play for the Bears. I hope my agent can get something done with them. bradjock
Awesome! Now we have a real 1-2 punch. I'm excited for this offense. Â Yep. Just like when we signed Marion Barber & Chester Taylor & added Ced Benson to compete with Thomas Jones. I was THRILLED with all three of those transactions and all 3 sucked. I'm skeptical. Â What baffles me is we have many needs at starting spots & we focus on back-ups. We need to resign Okoye, I'd love to see us make a run at Marcus McNeil. Tim Jennings gets benched but it looks like he'll continue to be a starter. Â We entered the off-season with both lines needing upgraded and it looks like we'll wait until the draft. Dissappointing.
