Chitownhustla
http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/bears/post...rlacher-limited I thought he was 100%. 100% to me means the knee is perfect. If he is having to ice and sit out that would lead me to believe that his knee is not 100%. I hurt my knee but needed surgery. My knee was never the same. I also hurt my knee another time that only required rehab. After rehab once I was 100% i never missed anything or had to ice. My knee was 100%. Hope his knee holds up this season Edit= Starting to get worried. Hope it is nothing.

bschmaranz
He's 34 years old, he's gonna need to ice his knees quite a bit regardless.

No, but 3 straight days of doing nothing is uncommon.

Agreed. With the older players, the Bears are going to give them the occasional rest. In fact, I kind of think it is relatively common for veterans to get some time off during training camp (especially under Lovie). Urlacher is pretty old. I hope his knee is okay cause the Bears really don't have a viable option at MLB (Roach won't cut it) if Url gets hurt.
Bears4Ever_34
I think Shea may end up replacing Brian when his time here is finished. Otherwise if they keep him at DE, taking a MLB in next years draft is going to become more of a focal point if Urlacher starts to decline at a faster pace with that knee injury. Don't have stats and a lot of news to reflect that feeling. Other than to say he's been on the team since '07 and starting since '08. I think he CAN do it, if need be. Other contenders will more than likely be McClelllin, DiCicco or Mayes. Of those three I can see McClellin starting at LB this time next year. AZ54
If SMC puts up 8-10 sacks this year he's not going anywhere but DE next year. We'll be drafting a LB in Rds 1 or 2 next year. We'll be drafting a safety too because we always do that.

Of course something will change to make me wrong saying this, but the Bears actually seem like they have talent, depth, and Youth built up in their safeties for once. bradjock
Urlacher's absence today is being termed happening for "Personal reasons". What's concerning is that the SCORE and ESPN radio Peoria both speculated that Urlacher is having surgery or going to see a specialist. While that's just speculation, sometimes these guys hear rumors that they can't report. Further speculation is that he's possibly done for the season. Granted, it's just speculation and I hope like hell it's just that. It's concerning.
madlithuanian
Best to assume the worst case. As long as we get pressure from the front 4, and the O clicks...we should be fine. If it is indeed surgery, there can be some hope he can be back for our playoff run. It just all depends. Our road will be tougher w/o him for sure...but it is still a road that leads to a SB victory. AZ54
I think if he were done for the season we'd see more activity in terms of bringing in more FAs to camp in the hopes of uncovering a decent LB for depth. I can't believe we'd be that satisfied with the depth on the current roster to sit back and do nothing. The fact we're not doing that tells me Urlacher's issue isn't that serious. I tend to think he's had some minor procedure, perhaps removing scar tissue makes sense, or something along those lines, and he'll be back to work in a few weeks. If true then I hope he's ready by the Packers game in week 2. IIRC every report in training camp said he was moving well and if he wasn't they couldn't have covered that up, it would have been a big story from day one. Lot of rumors saying he's looking into getting surgery. I'm assuming its more of a minor clean-up, but I'm curious to see what is going on. Ed Hochuli 3:16
If Urlacher is out for the year, this team is done. Period. Roach has never stood out enough. The front 4 isn't good enough right now. The secondary is seemingly always in question. Ugh, this news sucks.

BearFan2000
perhaps we need a picture of the "Jump to conclusions" mat from the movie Office Space. While this is unusual and not much is being said latest is it's for personal reasons. While I'd much rather have him out there practicing and dressed for our preseason opener, I'm not going to hit the panic button till I know exactly what's going on. Personal reasons doesn't automatically mean surgery or some other season ending issue. I could mean a lot of things, could be family situation, could be something he's dealing with personally, etc. Truth is we don't know. Where knowledge is absent rumors abound. people make things up to fill in the blanks. Let's not panic and freak out till we know what's going on. One thing we do know is that Brian is and never has been an overly public kinda person he tends to play things close to the vest.
CrackerDog
Ugh, this news sucks. News? It ain't news yet. It's a rumor. Let's wait to hear the real news before we freak out too much about this. By the way, if there's one thing I hate about the Bears organization, it's how badly the SUCK at things like this. They'll let this rumor fester for weeks before they even consider addressing it. If there's something to say, say it!
LT2_3
I'm beginning to think this might be contract oriented - at least I'm hoping so. It's like Urlacher's saying "I'm not happy with my contract so I'm gonna take a few days off." And the Bears are saying "Dude - do what you gotta do man. We love you and will be happy to talk contract extension later in the season after we get a better idea what next year's offseason is going to look like. In the mean time, we think you're awesome so do whatever you want man."

Agreed on the Emery theory as well.
