December 24, 201213 yr comment_112090 For the Oline specialists out there what are your thoughts on James Brown? In his first couple games he was getting pushed around a lot, he still needs to improve his strength IMO. Lately he seems to settling into the role at LG and I thought he played ok today. Cutler had a lot of time to throw throughout the game and as someone who has watched more Cards games than most they do have a good pass rush. We still can't open holes inside for the running game but did seal the edge a few times for some nice gains. Is there potential for this guy to be on the roster next year? Better than Spencer/EWilliams at LG? Report
December 24, 201213 yr comment_112105 He's athletic, but gets pushed around too much. Not sure what his position is yet. He has a guard type body, but athletic enough to play either tackle position. I'd give him another offseason before I judge him. Yesterday he was good/bad in some areas, but was an improvement over the last few weeks. Report
December 25, 201213 yr comment_112128 Much better this past game (like the whole OL), but I fear it's a fluke, and like we've seen before, it will regress. The rub, of course, is to recognize the likelihood of a regression before committing to someone. The Bears have not been good at this in recent years. And I definitely don't want false hope, like the last few years, to cause the Bears to draft other than OL for any reason. Report
December 25, 201213 yr comment_112131 I think he's a prospect that has struggled and has had a very few bright spots. He's a guy you keep around next year as a guy who can compete with a rookie OG or back-up a veteran OG (if you bring one in) along with Louis (if he's put on the PUP list to start the year). I was high on Brown going into the draft and somehow he went undrafted. Keep him around and maybe he can turn into a solid OG. At the very worst, he continues to work at his technique as a back-up.
