Mongo3451
The entire week after Lovie got fired, the media shoved our 10-6 record up our keesters. Saying how bad it was to get rid of Lovie. Heck, even Da' Coach chimed in with his displeasure. Then, they ripped our incompetance in the form of Emery having 13 candidates for HC. Now, Emery strikes fast with his decision and we become 2nd page news to Chip Kelly to the Eagles. Listen to real NFL people say how great a move it was to hire Trestman. To finish my rant, where the heck is Lovie going to be HC? Eight openings and he's not a finalist for anything. F#%$ you media!

Are you referring to local or national or both? I heard a lot of mixed messages from "the media" over the past two weeks (both in support of Emery's actions and against them). Please take no offense but I think you are over generalizing. As for Lovie, I really felt he would get a head coaching job. I believe he is an above average coach but not a great coach. I guess with the concentration on offense, it is going to be harder for defensive coordinators to get head coaching gigs now. Peace

(water under the bridge). But I have taken what Mad Lith suggested and a semi open mind to the changes. Am I excited? A little. Admittedly I was anxious to see who they hired. Now that's it's done, the real work begins. To the credit of detractors, Trestman must first prove himself. These first few moves are telling but really we won't be able to judge until the season starts anew next September. And as far as Chip Kelly and the Eagles "stealing the limelight". They can have it. It's better to work without the media spotlight in your face anyhow.

I would say it got mixed reviews due to the relative comparisons to other teams. Basically saying all the other shitty teams would kill for a 10-6 record. However, I have seen a bunch of NFL experts applauding the hire saying it was a great move. Chip Kelly is just a bigger name due to what he did at Oregon, not that he was a better hire. Reid was in KC before Kelly was in Philly. There are still 2 positions left I believe (Arizona and Jax) and neither has interviewed Lovie from what I have read. So to me, it does speak volumes about how valuable he is. If he was that good of a HC, he would've been in high demand and had another HC job already. Hey Lovie, I believe there is a vacancy in Montreal, but be careful, those are some big shoes to fill.

ParkerBear7
Here is another media attempt to spoil our day; http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown...43213--nfl.html Tebow; seriously you have to go there Florio?
AZ54
Arizona has serious issues with their offense and a very good defense and DC. Why would they want to hire Lovie? The fact they are ignoring him tells me they are now smarter than a box of rocks.

madlithuanian
It's a total non story... LIke saying, "hey Tebow has 2 eyes and a nose.. So does Trestman! That COULD mean, Trestman will pick a guy to QB similar to himself." I lost all faith in florio. Just proves hes just throwing it out there for the hell of it since the new gm in jax said no

To give closer proximity to the issue, I'll narrow it down to ESPN and NFL Network. The commentary and stories over the last 2 weeks was simply irritating. And the irony of the whole Lovie saga was irrisistable.

So they typically will take a couple facts and then stretch things and spin things in order to get the public to listen/read there articles. There job is to sell stories as much as we hate it and pisses us off

What's more, I was running at the gym on two different occasions, and the ticker said something about the Chicago Bears and Lovie Smith was coming up next. Two different times that story just basically got bumped from the lineup. Chicago football is always overlooked unless there is an opportunity to dog it. lemonej
Even sadder is that the T'eo story has trumped all things NFL. BTW Mike Mulligan (jerk) was really sounding like he was trying to be smarter that evryone else when asking questions of the new HC about his plans, schemes, etc. and to Trestman's credit he gave the media nothing definitive. The T'eo crap is annoying the crap out of me. I left class, came home and was pumped to listen to the score and hear about trestman and his hires. Instead, they would mention something real quick about it and couldn't wait to get back to talking about dead fake girlfriends. I get what happened, don't care. I want to hear about the Bears. I woke up to it again today, luckily the press conference got them off the subject some.
