scs787
Just let that argument go, they dont care what you think. I'd love to but you know it's gonna get dragged on by someone who's not understanding my point....We all have moves we don't like that others find awesome, there are some here that don't like the Bennett move while I love the move. There are others here that don't like the Bushrod move but I'm just more opinionated/have the time to rant as to why they are. I trust Kromer will put him in the position to succeed like he was in Nola. My argument is Webb wasn't put in the same position and looked a notch below average because of it. scs787
I still think it would be best if you get a job. Duh, I'm trying lol it's not as easy as you think...esp since I blew the motor in my car and am stuck looking for a night job...Unless you and all the others who hate my opinion wanna start up a collection to buy me a cheap car, which I'll gladly accept =p....I know there's a lot of money in truck driving, twiggy I know you got some money laying around, throw a dog a bone here I'll pay you back...Ya know since we're friends and all lol
ASHKUM BEAR
I still think it would be best if you get a job. A good LG helps, but thinking pass blocking help depends on how D's are attacking the gaps. If they know Webb is bad, they are going to try and single him out. Doing that by putting the MLB in the LG's gap if his assignment was to help. Football is 11 on 11, so each player ultimately has to take care of his own. scs787
Just did the 1st half...not 1 time did Webb get helped....It's gonna be nice to see a well planned out blocking scheme....Seriously guys just take a look at the first half from the 2 games, it only took me 30 min to watch all the plays in the first game (only 23 plays vs 43 plays for the Saints in the first half, it's no wonder the threw the ball so much more, the bears time of possession was turrable). Lets not make this Webb vs Bushrod but more Kromer Vs Tice
scs787
scs - Since you have ample time, would you be willing to do a play-by-play breakdown of what you believe happens? Give it a grade on each play. Use whatever scale you want (A-F, 1-10, whatever). Include N/A plays where you see fit. If you're willing to do this, I'll do the same over the weekend. I'd be interested to see whether your thoughts coincide with mine. Part of the problem on all this is "how" someone gets graded. Where'd ya go Jason? Id like to see you watch both games I posted and focus only on Webb and Bushrod then tell me your thoughts since you might have some time this weekend. It would require us to agree to the terms of how someone gets ranked. Judging from your first reply, I don't know if that's feasible. But just in case: 1. Each play is noted with an easy way to reference. Drive 1, play 1 = 1.1 Drive 1, play 2 = 1.2, so on. 2. All plays are counted so there is no confusion. False starts count as a play. 3. Grading scale (this is where it gets iffy): -Standard A-F -Double teams factored in -Play call factored in -Best guess at blocking-scheme factored in -QB drop factored in -Time in the pocket factored in -Hurries counted -Hits counted -Sacks counted I'm thinking something very close to the above. **BTW - The comparison you so badly want to make is just not a reality since the offensive schemes are so vastly different. Grading scale (this is where it gets iffy): -Standard A-F -Double teams factored in- The double team edge i have marked down is 23-2 (Video cut out at 4 min to go in saints game so this margin is more than likely higher) -Play call factored in- I stopped keeping track of Run v Pass in the 2nd half but the first half was actually fairly even @ 13 v 11 -Best guess at blocking-scheme factored in- ?? -QB drop factored in- Brees was actually forced to be more mobile than Cambell who often just stood there waiting to get hit -Time in the pocket factored in- Brees got rid of the ball so quick it's really hard to judge this -Hurries counted -Hits counted -Sacks counted I'm thinking something very close to the above. **BTW - The comparison you so badly want to make is just not a reality since the offensive schemes are so vastly different. Ya the grading scale is iffy Care to dig deeper into how you are grading those aspects? I bolded my views above to the questionable gradings I'd like some clarification to. After watching the games I'm game to grade it however YOU wanna grade it because judging from those aspects I know I already have Webb graded higher. The point (or comparison) I've been trying to get at has always been if you put Webb in the Saints system he'd do better than Bushrod in last years Bears system and I stand by that after watching both games. My thoughts on the items you bolded: 1) Double Teams - You have to factor in whether or not the double team was initiated because of required help, or because the blocker was chip blocking on his way to the second level. If internet porn has taught me one thing, it's that not all double-teams are created equal. 2) Play Calls - I don't just mean run vs. pass. Runs need to also consider where they are headed and the desired outcome of a block (e.g. drive, shield, cut). Pass blocking obviously has similar considerations. 3) Blocking-scheme - I allude to it in #1 and #2, but not all blocks are created equal. You can't blame a guy for a weak block if his job is to get to the second level and just hip check the first line of defense. 4) QB drops - Simple stuff. What is the QB's initial set up, and how many steps does he have in his dropback? We could quibble about whether or not the steps are called, or the size of the steps, but that's not the point. 5) Time in pocket - It's not hard to judge. You give it a one-thousand-one, one-thousands-two, etc.

From watching the games that much is clear. My arguments have been solely based on the pass protection aspect, the thing Webb got ripped for the most. I could go back and make notes on the run blocking I guess but its not really what I'm looking for. How would you rate a block where the LG and LT were locked on 1 guy the whole time?? Thats what happened many a times....There was no pressure from the guy of course but 2 guys were needed. I'll be very intrigued to see your legitimate analysis of the games and encourage others to jump in and as well and do the same. You'll get an idea of how we're gonna protect the QB this year.
