Wesson44
We are signing guys to our roster to help out on special teams and in the secondary. but some of the players we have gotten have some experience in the punt/kick off return area. So is this a sign for Hester to get his act together or be replaced? We have the following Tom Zbikowski http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHfyjYU8oTA...A09067C76C8F102 Tom Nelson Lequan Lewis Eric Weems Earl Bennett has done some returns as well
Guest TerraTor
I dont get the hate for Devin Hester. The only one who accused him of being a WR was Lovie Smith and his Crew of Turds. He became the best KR/PR that ever played and was removed from that role by them. Let him go back to his specialty, theres no way he doesnt run a 4.45 or lower anymore. And what hes done speaks for itself. If he sucks, then so move on from then

Lovie did a lot of dumb things but trying to get your playmaker the ball more than he used to is nothing to be pissed about. He didn't try to teach Hester to run backwards on punts. bradjock
Just because Zbikowski has been a return man is no indication he'll be a return man for the Bears. With the exception of maybe Weems, who didn't supplant Hester last season, do you see any of these guys winning the job of #23? That being said, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the Bears took a guy like Tavon Austin with the #1 pick. We would cut Hester and make Austin the slot receiver/return man. Bears4Ever_34
You can find a rookie to return punts and or kickoffs. Not that difficult.
AZ54
I don't hate Hester, I don't like what we've paid him versus what he's done lately but if moved back to strictly return duties hopefully he'll focus on losing the bulk and get some of his quickness back. Hopefully he won't run scared either. I won't be upset if the Bears trade him or cut him, he's no longer a must have IMO.

At 2.9 mil that is a lot to pay a specialist, that didnt have a TD last year and going forward is on a downhill slide. I would not cut him if he lowers his salary but with our salary cap situation, dont see him making on the team this year.
Daventry
I certainly would not say that I hate Hester, he was a great return man and good citizen for the Bears. I have not cared for some of his recent comments, questioning retirement and hinting at changing teams, but overall he has been a great player for the Bears overall. That being said, he never was a receiver and has failed in that role, and we are paying him too much. I would say it likely that he is released unless he is willing to take a big cut. bradjock
Agreed we are paying him too much. Hopefully we restructure his salary quietly and there's not a big discussion about, "Will we release him or won't we?" I love to see him get one more crack at building on his resume of being the best return man who ever lived.
